I was hoping for an official post on this, but the site has seen several public facing updates recently.

Last week I noticed (at least it seemed fresh to my eyes at the time) that embedded synths were displaying the photo license in the lower left corner of the synth viewer. (I still haven't seen photographer's names displayed there, but it might be that a lot of people haven't added their name to the Author field of their photos before uploading.)

This week, we see:
:: commenting enabled on the Tech Preview synths

:: ability to Follow other users (Go to a Preview profile page and click 'follow')
Example: http://photosynth.net/preview/users/David

:: new Explore pages
My Feed http://photosynth.net/preview/?explore=my_feed
Recent Favorites: http://photosynth.net/preview/?explore=recent_favorites
All Time Favorites: http://photosynth.net/preview/?explore=all_time_favorites
Recent Synths: http://photosynth.net/preview/?explore=recent_synths

I noticed that the homepage and Explore pages and profile pages all consistently use the #number URL fragment when scrolling synths but now also append the collection ID of the synth after a comma.

Unfortunately the CID does not affect anything - only the number.

We also see the updated debug panel that we saw previously in Henri's recent Chrome extension moved into service on the main view page of the Technical Preview site with refinements such as:
:: reset debug panel settings to defaults
:: the 'slideshow' setting (can't recall whether this was there before or not)
:: the entire Path set of variables including...
:: smoothSpeed (meaning, I think, that the viewer will compensate for uneven spacing of photos through a scene and base its movement on the space of the scene, instead of basing movement on where camera positions exist and giving each image a particular amount of time)

Let me know what I've not mentioned. I still don't see a new Search page yet.

Okay, here we go. Here's the official blog post: http://bit.ly/psbtpsupdate + tweet: http://twitter.com/photosynth/status/440980417403830273

:: Apparently you'll get an option to geotag your synth if at least one of the photos that makes it into the primary point cloud has GPS coordinates attached and if you accept will see a map in the Info view for a synth.

:: The additional sign-up for the Technical Preview has been removed.

:: We now have email notifications when people are interacting with us (following us + replying to our comments) or our synths (favoriting, commenting, getting featured).

@PhotosynthTeam, I don't know what the maximum characters in a comment on a synth is (I'm sure you don't want us writing essays) but the ability to insert a carriage return to separate paragraphs or links would be much appreciated.

Also a few very basic HTML tags to do things like just embed a longer link in a shorter phrase in the sentence would be very welcome.

Also, as someone who spends more time in the forums and comments than synthing at times, one of the things that has vexed me over the years is the current forum's insistence on deleting all whitespace from after the last non-whitespace character whenever I click out of the text field or away to another window or tab gets really old when writing a reply to someone and looking up several links to follow for more information.

:: The new comments field happily doesn't do this (a space at the end of an unfinished sentence remains when I move to a different browser tab and come back to it) however it is momentarily alarming that the comment box disappears in this scenario.

When this happened to me earlier, at first I feared that my comment had been obliterated but then saw my cursor still blinking in the upper left corner of the synth viewer and had hope that when I clicked the comment icon again my still in progress comment would be intact as was thankfully the case.
