Please could you make synths more accessible to Facebook by adding the following tags to the pages served when viewing a synth?
<meta name="title" content="<name of synth>" />
<meta name="description" content="<synth description>" />
<link rel="image_src" href="<thumbnail URL>" />
I would really like to be able to put my synths on my profile somehow. Thanks photosynth!
Well, I'm here to cast my ballot in favor of this as well. Now that Photosynth is dedicated to the Silverlight viewer, I'd really like to see emphasis put on sharing and Facebook would be a great way to quickly circulate things amongst my friends and family.
+1 LIke to see this to !
Count me in, too! (Not that I'm on Facebook that much, but the more the merrier.)
Count me in too! ;)
One of our developers spent some time during an out of the box week working on an app to add Photosynths to Facebook... I hope we can bring that to life in the coming weeks.
I am very curious to see what you've come up with but having to convince people to add an app as well as install Silverlight is somewhat painful. I know it shouldn't be but people are stubborn. I wish posting a photosynth to my wall were as simple as adding a video clip (which doesn't require people to add a YouTube app).
On the other hand, if photosynth.net would implement Facebook Connect as a result of having an app that consumes Facebook IDs, by all means, bring it on!
Bump! At the minimum, add the meta tags!
Thanks go to Chris Pendleton for pointing me to this: http://www.bing.com/community/blogs/maps/archive/2009/08/11/publish-your-photosynth-to-facebook.aspx
It's a little more manual than I like (you have to retype a synth title, description, find the link for the thumbnail image, etc.) but it lets you share your synths on Facebook. It's a start!
If we could automate the thumbnail URI and synth description retrieval from the collection ID, that would be much better for me, although retaining the ability to add your own description would also be appreciated. The ability to tag Facebook friends in synths would really drive this app forward.
Also, comments on the synth should link to the location in the synth where the commenter was when commenting like a highlight. Conversation about a synth is context dependent and making people verbally describe which photo they mean is not the way forward.
Regardless, congratulations and thanks to the guys who made MySynths!
Just for people's information, MySynths is no longer operational.
