Created a great synth or panorama? Shot some great photos? Showcase some of your best work here.
Hi all, been playing around with Photosynth for the last week, making synths out of lots of old photographs that were never intended for synthing (seeing as I only heard of Photosynth two weeks ago!). Had some surprisingly good results with that, but today I shot my first photos explicitly for loading into Photosynth. Here's my first attempt, a point cloud of the small wooden buddha in our garden! http://photosynth.net/view.aspx?cid=d1624146-93ab-4bc1-a03d-0c9e338483c2 So happy with how it turned out!
Hey, congratulations! It's great to see people really understand the power of Photosynth and start shooting specifically for it. ツ However... I went to your profile and I think I like your second attempt even better! http://photosynth.net/view.aspx?cid=06a064f3-d33b-4363-88a4-184ad1681482
Cheers! I am amazed by this thing - it is simply incredible what it can do! I had to render that garden one twice - the first time it seemed to put a second group of photos at a strange angle to the first, as if half the garden was underground? I tried renaming the photos so that they would be organised with similar / overlapping photos grouped together, thinking that it might give the synther an easier time. Happy to say it worked a treat, increasing the Synthy value from 89% to 99% and getting rid of most of the stray points :o)
Aye, retrying a synth can indeed produce different results, even without changing anything about the files. Here's a little more about that subject: http://getsatisfaction.com/livelabs/topics/two_synths_with_different_results http://photosynth.net/discussion.aspx?cat=a6bad539-de7d-4a16-8c4d-b143f7d5f984&dis=38772776-3f6f-4f5e-b34a-0e9771d6f10e Did you get the chance to try out the other Photosynth viewer that I linked to in my comment on your garden synth?
Thanks for the link - interesting! I have tried the D3D viewer- so much better :o)
