This is a topic that has been covered by a few "synthers" - I had the privilege to have a few days in Cologne last week, so did a massive shoot. Mine is quite different from the other big shoots that have been done on Photosynth - please take a look and let me know what you think. fred P.S. this new feature on Photsynth is great - hopefully we can get some great discussions going

this is a great synth!
Thanks Jonathan - I looked at the others on Photosynth before I went to Cologne and tried to develop it slightly differently - one target was to get a good point cloud. I was really hoping for better light so that I could do some zooms - even though my camera is a little limited here - but the wind made it really difficult, so I ended up discarding a lot of the close-ups.
It looks like there is a second point cloud off to the left: http://photosynth.net/view.aspx?cid=368eeded-d574-4430-867b-94e003a354a7&i=0:0:271&z=1040.7505252108801&g=0&p=2.34983e-014:-1.73105e-013&m=false&c=-0.0774319:-0.25877:0.252226&d=0.30217:-1.69725:-2.53956 Is that an error in the synthing or is there another cathedral next to this one?
In that sequence, as the it moves from the north side to the west side and briefly seems to show the north side of the cathedral. At this point it corrects again: http://photosynth.net/view.aspx?cid=368eeded-d574-4430-867b-94e003a354a7&i=0:0:271&z=1040.7505252108801&g=0&p=2.34983e-014:-1.73105e-013&m=false&c=-0.0774319:-0.25877:0.252226&d=0.30217:-1.69725:-2.53956 It could be because the front of the cathedral has many more photos taken from many points close up and further away - this could have confused photosynth a little
Why don't you discuss that in the 'comments' of the synth?
will do
