Created a great synth or panorama? Shot some great photos? Showcase some of your best work here.
Today's announcement of the integration of Bing Maps and Photosynth (http://blogs.msdn.com/photosynth/archive/2009/12/01/photosynths-in-bing-maps-dive-in.aspx) means that the best synths are going to get a lot more viewers than ever before. We've made editorial choices about which synths to feature prominently on Bing Maps, but you know your favorite cities and landmarks better than we do. If you think that a different synth should be featured for some place you care about, please make the case on this thread. We're looking forward to hearing from you.
something from Tallinn? capital of Estonia
Something from Cebu City, Philippines. The University of San Carlos Talamban Campus Arts and Sciences Building. http://photosynth.net/view.aspx?cid=0f17c739-1976-4aa3-a94d-41590d1f80bb
I'd love to have my synth added to Geneva. It offers a great view of the lake of Geneva. Just have it geotagged. http://photosynth.net/view.aspx?cid=45785823-d88b-4cdc-999a-6693c0645dd1
thanks! these are nice. I've upgraded them. :)
One of the most beautiful cathedrals in the town of Sumy (Ukraine). By the way, how can I have it geotagged? http://photosynth.net/view.aspx?cid=2c85f59b-6b8f-4b39-84fb-1375f03ac7bf
Chernenko, when you are signed into your account and looking at your synth, click the 'Edit Synth' button under the title.
When you are in the synth editor, go to the geotag tab, browse to the correct place on the map, drag the pin onto the map, save, geo-align, and save again.
Thank you, Nathanael. As they say, it's never too late to learn :)
Chernenko - Nice synth, I just marked it as featured for Sumy.
i wonder if bing will feature mine once i start doing them as i live on the small caribbean island of st. maarten and would love to see some of our local areas on bing maps, i mean theirs no real highres arials of the island, and on top of that no 3/4 view just means the islanddoesnt show much of anything on bing or google maps
Phantam, if you have any pilot friends on the island who could take you up in a helicopter or plane, maybe you could make some aerial synths. They wouldn't show up the exact same way that normal 3/4 views do (we would still have to open one synth at a time), but you essentially have the power now to put whatever you want on the map for yourself.
Since flying can be expensive, if you think you'll get the chance to fly my best advice is to learn how to synth on the ground and once you have a firm idea of how you like to approach shooting things, discuss your method with the pilot and work out a flight plan, before taking off, that will meet your objectives efficiently.
Even if you can't make it up in the air, I'll be watching for what you come up with.
My first synth http://photosynth.net/view.aspx?cid=67049f02-baf7-481f-b516-a47dc187a517. I did it when photosynth was still new. Also, the only decent synth in Dumaguete City, Philippines for now (I know since I did the other synth). It has 18 pictures and it still turned out well.
@almostchristian: unfortunately, a period after an URL breaks the link:( So, here's a good link to your synth http://photosynth.net/view.aspx?cid=67049f02-baf7-481f-b516-a47dc187a517 .
Almostchristian: that's a great synth of an interesting place -- definitely "featured" material. I just made it so. Cheers, David.
Hey David, How are you?
This is our entry: Rockefeller Center, New York, New York.
Great synth Tino2. I marked it as featured.
wow, thanks! *again*
David, here is a synth from the very top of the Wisconsin State Capitol building in Madison, WI
I think my Statue of Liberty synth might be a good addition...
Can you post this:
AirPhotosLIVE's many aerial clusters have synths from 10 ft to 1000 ft above ground level. More importantly we have been hitting 100% synthy with up to 999 images. Very smooth motion and strong 3d clouds. Latest is literally above the National Mall area looking at the US Capital http://photosynth.net/view.aspx?cid=7382cd4e-1850-4330-bfc9-01f56f0da6fc&m=false&i=0:0:5&c=-0.0275836:0.0272619:0.209439&z=605.128804299633&d=0.661737749524123:-2.54677805779874:-2.27465777231099&p=0:0&t=False
This is my first synth but I think it turned out pretty well. It is taken from the deck of the Mirabella V (the largest single mast ship in the world) and features a 360 degree panorama of a beautiful bay off the coast of Antigua.
This is a archaeological site in my city, São Mamede, Brazil.
La carrière de Borée
And some more, if you want :-)
In sicilia :
the amphithéatre romain
Acitrezza : the Faranglioni
Taormina : the Teatro Greco (featured in bing map, but i correct some mistake)
Costa Rica :
Cirque des boutières,
Thank for your good idea
We are doing synths in and around our small Minnesota community as a class project. We would love for them to show up on Bing if possible?
Here is one of our first ones at our high school:
Im in Matt Addingtons class and this is a synth of the k-w library http://photosynth.net/view.aspx?cid=083b803d-f027-4382-a055-57de1b9e8be8
http://photosynth.net/edit.aspx?cid=FFD3C431-1100-4357-909F-539E022689AF&firstview=1&wa=wsignin1.0 part of Matt Addington's class back of Kenyon Wanamingo school e-door.
Matt/damush33/ricky, any Photosynth that you geotag (as long as it meets a minimum quality bar - which all of yours seem to do) will automatically be shown on Bing Maps. Here's a link to Matt's: http://www.bing.com/maps/explore/#/nrccot9frkvb0q47 (I notice that the geotag isn't very accurate, as I suspect that your school, is not, in fact, in a lake :-). damush33 and ricky - your Photosynths won't show up unless you geotag them. To add a geotag just goto your synth, make sure you're signed in, click the edit button, and go to the geotag tab. Once you've added the geotag it will take about two hours to appear on Bing Maps.
Have fun with your project and let us know if you have any more questions. Tony.
Can you add this photosynth to San Francisco. It is of Andy Goldsworthy's "Spire" in the Presidio
Some of the worlds greatest architects assembled in one place for one project, CityCenter Las Vegas, NV

Briando, you stand a better chance if at least 25% of your photos matched each other (25% synthy or better).
You can more or less guarantee that Photosynth will match the photos if you are careful to give it angles which don't differ from each other by much.
This is a Port of Spain, Trinidad street view looking at the Waterfront Hotels, including the Hyatt Regency where Beyonce is currently staying for her show tonight. http://photosynth.net/view.aspx?cid=64acc947-f78b-4e08-b67a-d1b4c3939496&m=false&i=0:0:24&c=-0.449734:-0.15462:-0.00872068&z=713.401713867195&d=2.39120451720505:-2.42101798453433:-2.43675659251394&p=0:0&t=False

I would like to add my view from john hancock synth to bing maps. . i dont think
the other synth's have captured all the views from the tower . here's the link
Taken on Piazza IV Novembre in Perugia, Italy. View of Fontana Maggiore and San Lorenzo cathedral.
This synth is from last November's walkout at UC Berkeley. It was a rally at Sproul Plaza that protested students fee increases and staff and faculty cuts.
Didn't include the link. To repeat: This synth is from last November's walkout at UC Berkeley. It was at Sproul Plaza one of the main landmarks (also the site of the Free Speech Movement Protests) of the University of California campus.
Oporto skyline (photos taken in February 2009):
I've added a Photosynth, aligned it to the map, but unless I link to the map from my Photosynth, the clickable icon does not appear.
I will be adding to this, mapping the opposite side of the street and hopefully getting some higher shots from some of the buildings, which will massively increase the scope fo the synth. I'll also do some closeups of the names on the War Memorial, to make them a little easier to read.
Just deleted the synth I put up a couple days ago of the UCB campus, because I created a better, more "synthy" one here: http://photosynth.net/view.aspx?cid=48030870-e1ac-4131-a04b-ecefc9e930ab
I really think it should be featured... captures a lot of the energy and activity on UC Berkeley's campus... at a historical site: Sproul Plaza.
Thanks again! :)
I have a pretty good indoor synth! Would love a feature :)
It's a bit of the beaten track, 540 Photos - 92% Synthy, I like it, but I’m a bit bias.
Mountains fiords lakes…
I've been in a gazebo close to my home. I've made some shots from the top, not the best, and not 360° (i thought up there it will cover the whole FOV, seems it didn't) but i'd be glad if you'd put it out on bing maps, as there are only a few synths from the area, like: my house, etc, but this place is a stop of a hiking-road. I have geoaligned the images. the link is:
Here's an expanded version of The Parade in Leamington Spa
can you please add this synth of hexham abbey it is geotagged & alligned. I shot this over many weeks & have covered alot of angles & distances. It is also 99% synthy. Thanks Carl3mr
Hi, Please add this 360°panoramic view of the village of Heks, Belgium. It has been made on top of the church tower when it was in a restoration phase. A once in a lifetime opportunity. The village is very well know for its castle and gardens.
hi! i've made a synth of the "red bull arena" in salzburg (austria) http://photosynth.net/view.aspx?cid=7f0800c7-cb4e-4f4f-962a-9ceae7eb3db7
We just returned from Haiti and posted a synth of the crumbling downtown area from a closer perspective. It kind of give you a closer feel to what it's like there today: http://photosynth.net/view.aspx?cid=b95be7fd-15f1-4b15-a18b-a3425e2f1d83

This is a great photosynth for the State Hall of Leiden, The Netherlands!
I did a bunch on Panorama Synth on Maui with geotags and orientation.
Hi, I have completed two synths for Ireland, Dublin, Skerries. The synths are for two locations – Skerries Monument on the main street and also Skerries Harbour. Both of them turned out quite well and I am sure you will take time to consider tagging them to the map view. I will be completing more synths of Skerries in the coming weeks and months and hopefully these can also be published and tagged to a map view.
Here are the links to the synths

Hey Photosynth team! Me and my family spent last summer at Møns Klint, Denmark, Europe. It's an amazing chalk cliff streching several kilometres that evolves quickly. I made a photo synth from the beach and I was hoping you could get it on Bing Maps.
These are some great photosynths for Landmarks in Leiden City Center, The Netherlands!
1. Hartenbrugkerk: http://photosynth.net/view.aspx?cid=c9a36260-b7f7-4328-9f50-9be79fa4c943

Fun adding to it and watching it build.
Its the first one to site on the world properly!

I noticed there are NO photosynths in Arcata, CA. The Arcata Plaza is a very popular social gathering spot, with a huge statue of William McKinley in the center. I took a 400+ shot photosynth that would love to see added to the bing maps. Check it out and let me know what you think.
Yooperjb - all you need to do to have your Arcata synth appear on the map is add a geotag to it. This forum is about selecting the best synth in an area to be featured over others from the same area. If there are no other synths in Arcata you'll automatically be shown - if you add a geotag that is.
TonyErnst - I've added geotags to all my synths and none of them have appeared on Bing. Does it take some time for them to enter into the system? Most of them are in rather desolute areas where no other synths exist.
Please connect my new Pano- Synth to Bing-Maps ;-)
Check out my Pano- Pics from Bordeaux (France)
And some other made in Germany - Town called Wolfenbüttel
Slide Mountain, Catskills, NY
yooperjb - Yes, once you add a geotag it can take up to a couple hours for them to make it out to Bing Maps. I just looked and they are showing up for me now.
volume - We wont be exporting panoramas to Bing Maps until our next release. This will be in the not-too-distant future. Since you've geotagged them once we ship they should start appearing automatically

I created some synths and panaromas while vacationing in Alaska. They are of areas that are a bit off the beaten path. Featuring them would allow others to 'visit' them even if Alaska isn't in their travel plans this year.

I would have loved to have taken more photographs of this Japanese Garden, but my time was limited.
I wanted to convey to the veiwer of the photographic synth, a sense of walking through and actually "being there". I wanted to include the entire garden, Koi fish, lily pads and more detail of the beautiful plants.
I still have the original photos, so I may go back and try to capture the entire garden walk through along with more of the intricate detail.
The point cloud turned out not to bad, but I think in this case, the photographs should be the preferred method of viewing.
I always do that. I forgot to place the link. Sorry.
Another synth for your consideration.
A park statue which has been a part our city's identity for a long time.
I remember climbing on this statue as a kid.
To photograph this statue, I had to climb all over it again.
Understandably, I got a few strange looks from people passing by.
Here's a panorama PhotoSynth of Buckingham Palace (taken from the Park Lane Hilton) which I've created from a set of 27 high quality professionally taken photographs taken for a forthcoming book to mark the London Olympics.
For your consideration: Part of a larger synth of the Myra Canyon old rail trestles- Myra Bellevue Provincial Park.
This synth was photographed on July 1st, which is our National Birthday.
143 years old and still a beautiful portion of this tiny planet we call Earth.
There is a lot more to this synth, and I will upload them shortly, after I take a bit of a break. As you click through this synth, I offer you a challenge. Try not to make a "chugga -chugga...woo - woo " sound like I did !
Oh I forgot to mention, the National Birtday of Canada. And here is that word we all love ... "Eh ?" and how about "touque"?
I can't believe that nobody haven't done it there before
How about a synth created from shots taken on top of Notre Dame cathedral in Paris, France? Emphasis is on the city as seen from up high - but there are plenty of spires and gargoyles. Combines deep-zoom feel with many views. Lots of shortcuts...
Fantastic rainbow in the mountains above the desert town of Borrego Springs, CA, north and inland from San Diego, CA:
Also - here's a seadragon deep zoom of the same scene:
My best point cloud, with lots of spin points. Sea cliff above Torrey Pines Beach, north of San Diego. The colors of layers in the cliff are visible in the point cloud!
I have a synth of the South Rim in Big Bend National Park in Texas.
I have made a synth, portugal, lisbon. Could you see if it is worth a link for Bing maps? Thank you.
This is a Synth of the St Annabaai at Willemstad, Curaçao, Netherlands Antilles. The starting pic is a view most commonly used to advertise and represent Curaçao.
I think this is a better one to feasture than my Synth of Keukenplein.
This Synth is a 360 view over the city of Maastricht in The Netherlands, taken from the St Jan church tower at Vrijthof in the center of the city. Would you please consider to feature it on Bing Maps.
This synth is somewhat different from all the synths I have seen. I tried to recreate the experience of walking through the old capital city of Malta, Mdina. It is by far one of the largest synths with 594 photos and 100% synthy. I really appreciate if you could consider to feature it on Photosynth first page and Bing Maps. Thank you :)
In addition to my previous post I would like to thank you for publishing my Grand Harbour of Malta HDR panorama on the first page of Photosynth.net I was really happy with the numerous views and positive comments. It goes without saying, can you consider adding this panorama to Bing Maps too. Thanks and keep this innovation momentum going.
I've recently started an Aerial Photography business from Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs).
I've just come across Photosynth and am really blown away by what it can do. It is a fantastic introduction to Photogrammetry and good fun too.
It's looking like my work lends itself quite well to Photosynth.
Here's some work I did in York, United Kingdom. Hopefully this is the sort of thing you want. Please let me know.
I have some more that I'll release once I get permission from my customers.
Here is one synth. How can I put it on Bing Maps?

I am working on a project that would highlight the ability of synths to allow full exploration of residual spaces that are unintentionally created when buildings and monuments are erected. In this example, I shot from under a sculpture on my campus (WWU). I am very excited on the prospect of this synth adding to this great aspect of Bing Maps.

i am a student at st.pauls and a lot of peaple dont know obout photosynth and i want to post the baseball field on our school campus in mobile alabama. here is my synth.
WilderWing, you can geotag your own synths and panos. I left some quick instructions on your synth.
If you want to be one of Mobile's featured synths or panos, here's your competition: http://www.bing.com/maps/explore/#/h9ftldlq8rgjvvs2
this is wilder wing how do i upload it to bing maps
Wilderwing, you appear to have already followed my instructions, under your synth, on how to complete geotagging.
We can all now see your synth on Bing Maps by clicking the map thumbnail under your synth on the left side of the page.
For someone who just opened http://bing.com/maps/ and wanted to see your synth, but didn't have a link to it, they should search for St. Paul's in Mobile Alabama and then should just click on 'Map Apps' > 'Photosynth' and they ought to see your synth there on the map once they zoom in to the field.
Either that or you could just share a link to the synth open on the map.
I'd like to nominate a couple of my own, both were taken from up high :)
I'm very excited and actually blown away by the response to my latest panoramic photography of the Cherry blossoms around the Washington, D.C. Tidal Basin. If popularity is an indication, then please take a look and consider this for Featured on Bing Maps. Obviously, the fact that it was selected to be featured on the Photosynth home page for the last three days has helped a great deal.
Thanks, John D.
Hi,I'd like to spropse two photosynths of summits from the Seven Summits (highest points on each continent). Hope you like them, both are Geotagged to the summit on Bing Maps already:
Mount Everest Summit: http://photosynth.net/view.aspx?cid=8ae1dfd2-8506-4808-8851-330debc0c670
Mt Kilimanjaro Summit: http://photosynth.net/view.aspx?cid=76cd8f57-17fa-4b6a-aed0-ed90c8809fd5
Well, this is my first Photosynth, and it's really impressive--or at least I'm impressed );
However, it would be nice to know if anyone else agrees:
Whew, I am in shock and awe. I had no idea how incredible these panoramas can be:

I recently visited Canterbury Cathedra (England), and then Eiffel Tower (France) and took a 360 pan from of both. They are unlisted because I did not geotag them, but if you would like to take a look, here are the links.
