For those of you who like to see behind the scenes and hear about what's coming next for Bing Maps and Photosynth, there is an opportunity to hear Blaise Agüera y Arcas (former Photosynth architect and now architect of Bing Mobile and Mapping) speak live at Augmented Reality Event 2011 if you can make the trip to Santa Clara California on May 18th and have purchased a ticket in time. (Register here: )

There are three keynotes scheduled between 9:00am and 10:00am that morning and Blaise is the second listed of those three, so I expect he will speak from around 9:20am - 9:40am, though this is guesswork. Schedule:

Ori Inbar uploaded some of 2010's speakers last year on vimeo: and will likely do so again this year. Unfortunately, although they recorded Blaise in 2010, they never released the video publicly.

Thankfully, conference attendee, Christian Grant, recorded Blaise's 2010 talk and freely shared it on Qik. I've embedded it, along with some notes and links to more information at Gary Mortimer's Photosynth Ning network here:

I am looking for a volunteer to do the same thing this year, so if any of you are attending ARE2011 (or if you know someone who is), please know that you would be doing the rest of the Photosynth community a big favor if you could get video of his whole talk and post it online, as there is usually a demo of things to come. We've got a month yet before this talk, so you do have some time to prepare.

Here is the location on the map:

Thankfully, the kind people at Layar uploaded a copy of Blaise's talk to their YouTube account and linked to it on their weblog.

You can watch it here:

I will also post any other copies that I find of this talk here in the future. Until then, be sure to also catch his talk from Where 2.0 2011 ( ) and also his talk at Queen Anne Science Café ( ).

Thanks, Nate! As ever, you are *the* boss of Photosynth and multiphotogammetry news. I hope you're well,

Thanks for the kind words, Michael. In this case, my thanks go out to the friendly folks at Locative Media for taking the time to write back to me with the link to Layar's weblog.

You can pay Locative Media back by visiting their vimeo channel: and thank Layar for putting the video up here:
