hi
a question around street view,I should like use Photosynth with a spherical camera (using single pictures and no panorama pictures) to build a street model and
estract the cloud points to use on stand alone. please is there anyone who knows if it is possible?
many thanks

Photosynth does not work well with fish-eye lenses; I think I heard somewhere that the widest lens that works well is 20mm (35mm equiv). You can take a several dozen pictures forming a sphere at several points along the street and synth them all. If done carefully you will be able to pan around this in the photosynth viewer, but it's not quite as seamless as a stitched projection onto a sphere.

Currently there is no support for a standalone viewer or offline data. We hope that our efficient use of bandwidth makes this a non-issue for most users.

Matt, I'm thinking he only cares about the pointcloud being offline. Is that true, armando_60?

I was actually wondering about spherical photos working in future versions of Photosynth, myself, lately. I know there have been speculative comments about Photosynth working together with the ICE team or HD View guys in the future and I've definitely noticed that HD View is in the process of being ported to Silverlight as the Silverlight feature set allows, so I assume that it's still something that you guys would like to roll into one bag of tricks.

There's always someone that compares Photosynths to panoramas and concludes that panoramas are superior, except in ease of manufacture, where Photosynth beats them to the precipice of existence. I've always thought it would be amazing, though, to apply the Photo Tourism idea to fish-eye lens photography. I'm not sure how you visualise the transitions between them satisfyingly but a synth of panoramas would silence critics.

hallo
I apologyze for my bad english
yes Nathanael, my question was simply if it is possible to have in my pc the cloud poins to manage with other software, end make measurements on it. about the spherical panoramas I write that I will use the single pictures because I thoght that was not possible use spherical panoramas, but if it is possible that would be wonderfull !!!!
ever about panoramas
I work with a mobile vehicle equipped with LadyBug2 (point grey reasearch) and inertial navigation system... is it possible use the 6dof parameters - ((x,y,x,roll, pitch, yaw) obtained with navigation system (applanix))- in the bundle adjustment and use it how approximate parameters?
many thanks

If you want to use spherical pictures, you'll need to crop them into smaller images that have some overlap. To get the point cloud, there are a bunch of hacks. Search for "photosynth point cloud" on your favorite search engine: http://www.bing.com/search?q=photosynth+point+cloud

There's still the issue of the legality of the data. Use Bundler instead if you want to own the point cloud and use it commercially, afaik Microsoft owns the data which is why you can't use CC images from other people (you give Microsoft the images under different legal terms)
