what is a point cloud? how can i use it?

Overthemoon - the "point cloud" is the dots you can see floating around in a synth. They represent matches within your photos. I really well conected synths the point cloud is an accurate 3D representation of an object. The points are also what you see when you enter overhead view. Another way to see them is by using the P key to cycle between 3 viewing modes - photos only, points only and a mix of points and photos. Hope this helps and have fun exploring!

Just be sure to click somewhere on the synth before trying to use the [P] key to change viewing modes.

There are all sorts of different ways to use Photosynth but some people focus just on making great pointclouds. Once you understand how to move around things to get a great result (as well as whenever synths are able to be viewed next to each other on Bing Maps) Photosynth becomes the easiest way to put 3D models of things on the map that are not already present.
