Hi, xocjohn,

No, you cannot add or delete photos from an existing photosynth.

However, if you have the original photos still on your hard drive, you can create a new synth with both the photos from the original synth plus the new ones that you've taken.

If you do this, the calculations will take as long as normal, but none of the photos that you've uploaded to Photosynth before will need to upload again, so the upload should be quicker than normal. The only exception is if you have edited the original photos after uploading them the first time.

One related tip to save you some time entering the title, tags, choosing the thumbnail etc. is if you've just created a synth and want to create another version with more or less photos and you still have the synther app open, you can just right-click the name of the synth in the synther app's list of completed and pending synths and choose 'Edit'.

The synther will open the completed or pending synth as it is and let you modify any settings before recalculating and uploading any new photos plus the new synth data.

I hope that helps!

Your fellow synther,

I should also note that if you have ever deleted the original photos from your hard drive, but they are still on Photosynth.net, you can use Henri Astre's PhotosynthToolkit ( http://bit.ly/photosynth-toolkit ) to download full resolution copies of the photos.

You'll need to first download the synth data and choose to download the thumbs. After that, download the HD versions of the photos.

The copies you download won't be exact replicas of the originals. They were compressed once when being uploaded and then again when being recompiled and downloaded, but they should be the same resolution and you probably won't notice the difference with your eyes. The only reason I bring this up is that Photosynth won't recognize the copies you download as photos that have been uploaded before if you reuse them in a synth.

They're as close to the originals as they can be, but they are unique digitally, so try to just use the originals from your hard drive if you can.

I am trying to crowd source the pictures for the Monument Fire in Arizona. The update maps are horrible. You are sure that you can't figure the add photos bit?

Hi, Monument.Fire,

I don't know that I understand what you mean when you say, "The update maps are horrible.". What are you having troubles with?
