Geotags, aerial synths, street synths… capturing events as they happen. If you can mark it on a map, then this is the place to talk about it.
I would like to make som photosynths of our school that could be marked on bing maps for students to look at, but it is impossible because there are no aeiral photos of our school here:
does anyone know when we can expect it to be fixed??
Is it possible to pay anywhere to get the pictures taken soon?
Bing Maps is nearing completion of the first phase of their deal with DigitalGlobe, beginning via their Clear30/Global Ortho Project, where they will be capturing 30 cm square per pixel for the entire 48 continental United States and Western Europe (as well as major Alaskan cities). This first phase will not be complete March of 2012 (if I'm doing my math correctly). http://investor.digitalglobe.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=70788&p=irol-newsArticle&ID=1348613
Also see http://vimeo.com/15881851 (at 4:35) to have Chris Pendleton give a short overview of this program.
You can read a recent Bing Maps weblog post here: http://www.bing.com/community/blogs/search/archive/2011/06/24/global-ortho-imagery.aspx
And you can keep track of their progress in Bing Maps' "World Tour" map app: http://www.bing.com/maps/explore/#/2h0zsfc59njkf8vj
I have asked Bing Maps on Twitter to clarify what "Western Europe" means. http://twitter.com/natelawrence/status/133336151200251905
You should be able to do this yourself. See http://photosynth.net/faq.aspx#q15
It doesn't look like any of your panoramas are taken from the iPhone app (which you can associate a Place before uploading); the Photosynths uploaded from your computer can be associated to a place [of business] or location via this website. Just login and view one of your Photosynths... underneath the viewer, there's an Edit button.
Hope that answered your questions.
