When you visit my websites with photosynth the website jumps to the photosynth on load. I need to fix this try it on www.redstonegj.com or www.gvvec.com

Also why doesn't this forum have search and normal microsoft forum features?

Hi, DontPanic,

What operating system (and version) and web browser (and version) are you seeing this behaviour with?

On Windows 7, I tested:
Internet Explorer 9 (Jumps to Photosynth embed)
Firefox 13 (Jumps to Photosynth embed)
Opera 11.64 (Stays at top of page on load)
Safari 5.1.7 (Stays at top of page on load)
Chrome 19.0.1084.56 m (Stays at top of page on load)

So, the problem seems to be dependent on the browser, rather than the page or Photosynth's iframe. That said, I'm neither a web dev nor a Photosynth employee.

As to the forum being bare bones, it's a fair question. When the forum was added in 2009, the community had the same questions and it came down to the Photosynth team not wanting to either link to an externally hosted forum (hard to sync usernames + passwords, etc.)

As far as searching the forum, try a domain-specific query in Bing or Google.

Ah, I just realized that I didn't quite finish the 'forum is bare bones' paragraph.

...externally hosted forum or to spend development time and manpower on reinventing forum software when they had other development goals and very limited financial and personnel resources.

understood but MS has a lot of forums ability. TechNet... odd to me.

I really need to fix this, where can I get some support or info from the Photosynth team or there still a connection.Microsoft.com project page online for this?

I also have some questions about the mobile app. quality of the app vs ice/Photosynth is massive difference. I'd like to turn the app up. My app posted a 6.9MP image but when I took the photos from the same phone and used ICE it was 109MP image. I'd like to have control over it. Also I'd like Photosynth app to save each image so I can use them later instead of the stitched only image.

Sorry that no one from the team has responded here.
Here's their contact page: http://photosynth.net/contactus.aspx

As to the resolution of the panoramas produced by Photosynth's mobile pano app, the limitation is not so much the output (although the limited RAM is a killer limitation), but the bottleneck is actually at the point of capture.

The capture mode that is Photosynth's mobile app's signature and what makes it so popular is extremely resource intensive and the video mode that is being used must never break interactivity during capture, which makes writing full resolution images from the sensor to internal storage a no-go for now.

Several others have had the same complaint. Here's the conversation from twitter: http://bit.ly/psmpr

And, yes, your observation about capturing full res shots via the regular 'Camera' app and then stitching them with ICE is highly preferable for any kind of satisfaction beyond the momentary thrill of the realtime interactive capture. I've been trying to tell people this for the past year while we Windows Phone users were waiting for a WP7 version of the app - to little success.

For a similar app to ICE on iOS, there is AutoStitch, but they save RAM by keeping the panorama flat and saving the resource intensive calculation of the re-projection to a cube map. Like you, I would welcome a mode in Photosynth's app that allows for stitching full res shots, since I don't need the training wheels of the interactive capture, but since the amount of RAM that will be onboard is so variable (512MB, 1GB, 256MB, etc), that probably isn't a feature that they'll be adding to the mobile app any time soon, I'm sorry to say.

why can't you use the flash card for temp ram? a lot of phones support 8gb-16gb+ now.

I’m sure this is my fault but I can’t figure out where or why.

When you visit these sites the Photosynth or Google maps view forces the view down to the iframe. It’s not in all browsers but On Windows 7 and W8, I tested:
Internet Explorer 9, 10 (Jumps to Photosynth embed)
Firefox 13 (Jumps to Photosynth embed)
Opera 11.64 (Stays at top of page on load)
Safari 5.1.7 (Stays at top of page on load)
Chrome 19.0.1084.56 m (Stays at top of page on load)

I checked to make sure no onload were going on but I’m using a program called Artisteer which builds the website code for me so I don’t even have access to header, body or others. So I know I didn’t do it. But if you could help I could get it fixed in Artisteer or at least in my own websites.
