Did the leaves fall off? Something not working right? Let us know how we can improve the Photosynth experience.
I'm using iPod Touch 4 (iOS 4.3.1), using the latest version of Photosynth.
The app is well made, love it so much! However,
it crashes everytime exactly at 37% back to Springboard,
Same issue here. Crashes at 37-39%. In my case I know there are like a 100 images in the panorama to stitch I took so I guess that could be the issue. But any info on what that limit could be would be useful. I killed all active apps, rebooted the device but still the same.
Device: iPod Touch 4G 32GB
OS: iOS 4.3.2
I got my 360 panorama to go through, just close out all other apps, respring once, and try to clean up memory, then plug into power and it will have the memory to do it. It needs a lot of memory, the ipod has less than the iphone so it has difficulty when there is less than the full amount available.
Also same here.
The app crashes exactly at 39%, and it back to springboard.
This only ever happens to me when the panoramic is a full 360. For some reason it was only ever able to do it once. I always crash at 39%, even after I've freed up as much memory as I can.
It would be cool if they could fix this with an option for more time and less memory consumption.
Same Here, I have an ipod touch, latest version and It always crashes at 37%, any help would be appreciated
Photosynth test team member here. I'm sorry you and the rest of the people on this thread are experiencing this issue. We've been trying to reproduce it on our lab devices, so far, with not much luck. I've seen it happen only once on early versions of the app, so we are not sure if our latest developments have actually solved the problem.
I have a couple of questions that might help us diagnose the issue better:
1)Does it go away if you cold-start the device (turn it completely off and turn it on again)?
2) Does it happen for all panoramas or a specific one?
Thanks a lot for the feedback, it will help us improve the experience.
For me, I've tried to turn off and turn on the device again or free memory by killing the apps, however Photosynth still crashes at 37-39% (sometimes it crashes when I press the Finish button).
It occurs for all panoramas.
i've tried to free up some memory and the issue has been resolved for me
Valent - does it crash on a simple two photo pano as well as large ones?
If you have Cydia, then you have sbsSettings: you can click Processes and then "free memory" :)
It works for me (sometimes)
If you don't have Cydia, REBOOTING worked for me too (but first, you must close all the programs, and then reboot)
Hope you are lucky
Mine crashes at 39% every time. It is the only stitch I have in there. I have 8Gb free on my 32 Gb ipod. I rebooted and closed other programs. Hope there is a resolution because this was of Times Square.
Weird - I woke up this morning and the finished pano was on my ipod touch. Now it won't let me share on Facebook.
The problem is definitely the ram filling up, but freeing ram does not fix the problem on the ipod touch for me. This because it seems you need somewhere around 250-300 free mbs of ram to stitch a complete panorama which is unrealistic on an ipod touch. Hopefully this will be fixed.
I have the same issue, with the latest version and iPod touch. I also tried booting in safe mode, closing everything, without success. Mine crashes at 25-26% :(
I have this issue but when i free up 300mb of space on my ipod it works
What you do is get out of all your apps, ALL of them, then reboot, then be sure to only open photosynth. You should be okay for one stitching then it crashes again. You gotta do that everytime. Annoying I knoww. It's a temporary solution though. Good luck!
can i use the photosynth app with my pc to get the pictures that i took with my ipod and finish the stitch in my computer????? could it be possible??
Joel, if you can see the input photos in your iPhone camera roll, you should be able to sync them via iTunes and then use ICE ( http://bit.ly/msrice ) to stitch them into a panorama to then upload to your account with the Photosynth app for Windows.
From what another iPhone user said a couple of months back it sounded like all the photos were being saved to the camera roll, but I don't know if the Photosynth mobile app team has changed how the app handles that in the 1.1 updated version of the app. Here's the other user's report, though. http://getsatisfaction.com/livelabs/topics/photosynth_iphone_app_not_to_save_all_photos_to_camera_roll
I have IPOD 4G and i have notice that when i turn off all apps and
-swithcing off the WIFI-
it reduces memory and lets me stich full panoramas!
For me, it works: Turn ipod 4G off, turn it on (if jailbreak -> Boot thetered;))then turn off wifi, turn off all apps, free memory (if jailbreak) and start photosynth! My whole panorama stitch! Great Job!
I never was able to stitch something bigger than a couple of shots. Really sad about this, because have many panoramas I would like to stitch and view.
iPod touch 4 plus latest iOs5, latest Photosynth
Photosynth crashes at 39%,
I did a complete reboot of iPod
If there's nothing important on the iPod. Could you try resetting it to manufacturer settings?
Had a crash too. Hopefully, the next version will fix the problem.
It may be a memory issue. Try the reboot solution here:
The rebooting solution is invalid more or less now, newer OS, more default processes = less ram.
Anyone who actually wants to do anything fun or have any useful functionality would have also jailbroken it, leaving less ram.
Needs a proper solution for allowing us to export our panoramas and import it into ICE or Photosynth desktop version and stitch it there.
Seriously, not a hard task, allow the desktop version to support the same file type as on the iOS
Maybe I should clarify, the panoramas can be extracted manually, it is basically just nearly 50 photos or so, but they are all of .frame file type, not supported by either ICE or Photosynth desktop version.
Yattabyte, I support your request to be able to export the individual captured shots to use with ICE (and even other panorama stitchers like AutoStitch, just to see how the results compare when using the exact same input data).
As a separate issue, though, I don't believe you're right about letting Photosynth's app be the only app using RAM on your device not giving the app the RAM it needs. I suggested this as a solution to a blogger and one of my cousins just a week or two ago and they both reported back to me that that solved the problem for them.
Out of curiosity, what model of iOS device are you experiencing failure with? Is it an iPhone 3GS?
i love photosynth1 and everyone i show it to immediately gets it as well.
but i'm having such frustration!
there are really great panos waiting to be seen, but locked into my ipod.
what i appreciate about some other panorama apps is that all the images taken during the photo gathering process can be stored in photoroll. so handy! then at least the big panos that are causing issues can be stitched on computer.
they should make a computer program that allows the pics to send to computer then stitch. I have ipod 4th gen running on ios5 and it's not working for most of my panos.
I had several crashed with my Ipod when photosynth stitch panos (especially when they are complete) with exactly the same percentage (around 37-38%)
I closed all my running apps.
I turn off my ipod and started it again.
I plug it on my computer.
AND IT WORKS!! for my 6 panos witch did not worked before
I have this problem and can't seem to solve it. It only happens with big ones, but I want to make full panoramas with them..
I have tried:
- closing all apps
- turning Wi-Fi off
- turning Location Services off
- Turning Airplane Mode on
- Clearing everything in Notification Center
- deleting previous panoramas
- completely charging battery
- plugging it into the power adapter
- making sure I have the latest version of iOS and Photosynth
- letting my iPod cool down
- turning off Twitter and Facebook notifications
I have a 32GB iPod Touch 4th-Generation running iOS 5.1.1 (19.2GB free)
A desktop application to stitch it afterwards would be nice, if there's a Mac OS X version.
Maybe it's an idea to stitch them online?
Hey guys, I'm just using vitual memory on iPod 4G, the photosynth never crash again
