Doing this well turn photosynth.com into not just for display put also a place to store your photos like flicker or twiter , or just about any other competing free photo sharing sites

I like the idea (a lot), but it would almost double the space that synths use on the storage servers. Currently our photos only make it up to the web once they've been chopped up into deep zoom image tiles. Being that the original photos are jpg and the tiles are also jpg (and jpg uses lossy compression, meaning you can not save it without throwing away some of the information in the file each time you save) the chances are that even if the tiles of the full version of your photo were pieced back together as seamlessly as possible, the result would still not be exactly what you started with.

I say this, not because you wanted to know all of that :), but only to help you understand that you are asking them to suddenly store almost twice the amount of data on their servers. That would certainly eat up your 20 free gigabytes of storage faster.

Also, I definitely would not suggest twitter as a place to archive your photos. TwitPic and *free* Flickr accounts make a *tiny* copy of your photo. If that is the only copy that you keep, you *will* regret it when you want to look at it five, ten, or twenty years from now. By then you will realise that even the best quality version that you can make today is worse than the quality that you can get from scanning the negatives from your family's cameras from back in the 1960s and certainly watered down versions (1024 x 768 on a free Flickr account and even worse on TwitPic) are just completely worthless. Make sure that whatever you are using to save your memories are keeping the very best quality copies possible.
