New user. great tool. problem: twice i´ve created synths, have gotten as far as "publishing synth", and then nothing happens. nothing. my synths vanished!
kevinharbin (Over 1 year ago)
I'm having the same problem right now. I don't have a solution...
SadGamerGeek (Over 1 year ago)
Same here. Did either of you get anywhere with this?
Bert (Over 1 year ago)
Are you getting this consistently or is it intermittent? Can you share some details about the size of synth (in terms of number of photos), type of network connection and if you're re-using photos from previous attempts when you get this?

Also, we have seen some occasions where the synther says it's publishing but the synth is actually finished (still a bug, but at least your content does make it up to the site).

same problem: XP Sp2, photosynth 2.109.415.1554, 16mbit connection, 80 photos (800x533), i'm re-using photos
Rockman87 (Over 1 year ago)
same problem here... it stops progressing at the end when it is publishing synth... It happens about 50% of the time!

I have one that should be done in 55min.
Well see what happens.

All, we had some publishing problems over the weekend. All sorted out now, and we believe most of the synths that were "stuck" should now be appearing on the site. Please let us know if this is not the case.
sixthsynth (Over 1 year ago)
Just now uploaded a new Synth and it views no problem, but previous two that showed "success" in their logs are still not viewable. thanks for your efforts on this.
TonyErnst (Over 1 year ago)
sixthsynth - could you email me the logs? Thanks, Tony
sixthsynth (Over 1 year ago)
Email sent with 5 attached logs
sixthsynth (Over 1 year ago)
Tony says the two synths were lost and I will need to reload them.

RE: Photosynth "success" but not viewable log files from SixthSynth‏
From: Tony Ernst (tonyern@microsoft.com) Sent: Tue 5/12/09 6:04 PM To: SixSynthy,
The Los Olivos and Ball field synths you sent logs for are appearing on the site (215c2dc9-e5ab-4e39-a64b-681c023d7679 and 5a3c9b2b-f168-4de3-84cf-5ed03d835e87).
However, I cannot find any references to the Hetty's rose garden synth on our end. Sorry but it did not make it. Ill see if I can figure out why this occurred, but there is no way to recover the synth. You'll have to recreate it.
Thanks Tony

Subject: Photosynth "success" but not viewable log files from SixthSynth
Thanks for being so involved. Here are the last 5 logs with the ones on 5/9 and 5/10 not viewable yet, a

reloaded 300+ synth and it worked fine, although a little slow on loading individual photos.
sixthsynth (Over 1 year ago)
sorry, I mean photos are slow to appear when viewing. the slideshow moves too quickly from shot to shot, not allowing the full resolution; and using the "next" button, it is equally slow to show in full resolution, and sometimes fades to black. (using Firefox...I will try IE7, 8). I think options will be needed to allow the user to set speeds, keep in zoom mode or not, etc.
Nathanael (Over 1 year ago)
sixtysynth,

Whether a photo resolves fully before the slideshow moves on to the next photo is dependant on your internet connection speed as well as the size of your browser window on your monitor. Basically for some people it will be fast enough and others not.

For more conversation on this, please see:

Okay, back on topic...
Nathanael (Over 1 year ago)
Well, one more note for sixtysynth. You may want to try the discontinued Direct3D viewer (link to it found under the lower left hand corner of all synths in Windows + Firefox/IE) as it is faster at loading.

I had problems with 2 synths in past week. both, less than 15 pics each, seeemed to go thru process OK and then disappeared. Done search using key word in title and both came up and worked properly. It's just that they did not appear in the "recently synthed" line-up. Also have bombed out numerous times just viewing synths. No pattern to problem; the "problem" window appears- prompt to send error report. I cancel; Explorer closes and I open Explorer and go to Photosynth agaon. Frustrating. JFE
Marvin (Over 1 year ago)
With respect to not appearing the in the "recently-synthed", that's not really a bug. We have found that quite a large number of the synths uploaded are a few unrelated pictures, so if we were to show them all, we'd be swamped with a large number of uninteresting synths. (You'd be surprised at the number of people who uploaded the three "default windows pictures").

As for the crashing during a regular viewing experience, could you give us more details as to what's going on?
For starters, could you tell us what Browser/OS/Machine you're using, and when exactly the crash happens? Maybe we can establish a pattern.
