Trying to upload pics to Facebook and when I select "upload to Facebook", the Facebook login screen just stalls and stays white. Wont let me login :(

This issue is being investigated by the dev team but this authentication problem is affecting other iPhone apps that use Facebook as well at the moment.

Quick update to my previous post: Facebook is aware of the issue and is actively working on a fix.

I thot about deleting the app and reloading it. If I do that, will my stitches that I've uploaded disappear too from the website?

Another quick update: the fix that Facebook released yesterday will remedy the login process for Photosynth users who had not yet not logged into Facebook. However, the issue still exists for users of Photosynth who had previously logged in, and so Facebook has reopened the bug.

Please note this issue is occuring for some, but not all, iOS apps using Facebook.

To the previous comment: although deleting the app will not affect your panoramas uploaded to Photosynth.net (as seen in the PHOTOSYNTH.NET part of the app's panorama library), it will delete any ON DEVICE panoramas you have, so I'd advise just waiting until Facebook resolves the issue.

Thanks for the replies Eric. I hope Facebook can figure this out soon. I'm on vacation and want to upload my photosynths to fb as a visual diary of my trip.

While we continue waiting for the root issue to be resolved by Facebook, I've become aware of a work around that should restore Facebook login and sharing functionality.

Here's how:
1) Log into Facebook.com from a PC
2) Under the "Account" menu in the upper right, select "Privacy Settings"
3) Under the "Apps and Websites" header in the lower-left, select "Edit your settings"
4) In the section "Apps you use" click the "Edit Settings" button
5) In the row for Photosynth, click the "X" on the far right
6) In the dialog box, click Remove
7) In the app, now log in to Facebook

This process will essentially reset the login path for the Photosynth app and get you out of the bad state that causes the all-white login screen. Panoramas previously posted to Facebook will not be affected by this action.

Hope this helps, and as I said, we are waiting for an official fix that will make this workaround unnecesary.

Hi Eric, I had the same Facebook login issue.

I tried your workaround and that worked fine.

Thanks! Ant.

It appears Facebook has resolved the core issue that was causing this behavior, so you should be able to login this morning without needing to use the above workaround.

When I share a photosynth on facebook it doesn't start in the correct place, but points at the 'black hole' at the top of the synth. How can I correct this behavior to utilize my chosen start place in the photosynth automatically?

Hi Eric, I see this issue is a bit old, but wanted to let you know that I'm experiencing the problem outlined above. I only noticed this for the first time yesterday when I tried to share a new Synth via facebook. I had to use the work around today and thanks for sharing that. Using iPhone 4.
Thomas. You're right. We're getting a number of reports that this problem is back :-( We have alerted facebook, and are awaiting a reponse. In the meantime, if you need a workaround, the 7 steps posted by EdrickPB above will work.
@simoncollier: Did you set your preferred starting location in our Web-based editor? That's the way to do it. You can't do it from the phone unfortunately.

The workaround does not work for me as photosynth is not even added to the 'Apps that I use' on facebook.
