Short and sweet: when I tried to use the synth editor this 2011 May 15 noon (Pacific time) I was repeatedly intercepted by the following error:

An unknown error occurred:The editor settings were not specified correctly

Inner Exception:
Could not load file or assembly 'System.ServiceModel, Version=2.0.5.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. Strong name validation failed. Thanks Nate, we'll take a look. I take it you're only seeing this intermittently? Is it happening only on certain synths?
Nathanael (Over 1 year ago)
Hi, Tony.

Yeah, it is intermittent. I don't know that I've been able to peg it to any particular collections. I'm currently unable to reproduce the error, but when it happens, it just doesn't let up.

Several times, I've tried on a different computer an hour or so later and everything's back to normal, so I don't know if it's an issue with my older desktop (that's where I've run into it before) or some other time-dependent factor that would reproduce itself on other machines.

Next time I see this behavior, I'll try to test on multiple machines at the same time and report back.

Hi Nathanael,

Did you only see this once per installation/machine? Based on my observation, it looks like it goes away after you restart the browser (at least for IE). Also it only occur after installing the beta runtime... once you get the editor working, it doesn't seem to occur again. Please let me know if it's the same case for you.

Thanks

Adrian, as far as I can remember, it's been multiple times on the same Dell desktop. I don't remember having this problem on any of the other computers I use and they all have the SL 5 Beta runtime on them.
