Did the leaves fall off? Something not working right? Let us know how we can improve the Photosynth experience.
Well I watched the video and read the guide then went to the public museum here in my home town. I took 101 photos of the wooley mammoth skeleton they have on display there. I brought them hom, uploaded them and now I have been waiting nearly 24 hours. The Photosynth window was left open and it now says "Publishing Photosynth (67% Synthy). It hasn't moved for quite some time.
My question is will it take this long or is the program hung up. Seems like it should have had enough time by now. Can anyone help?
It sounds like you've hit a little snag that crops up from time to time. Usually when the synther hangs on the 'Publishing' phase, it means that the website and the uploader are in disagreement about whether all the files were uploaded correctly or not.
On the other hand, the synther never would have reported the 'publishing' phase unless it thought that it had uploaded everything already. Sorry that this happened to you on your first synth. It really is a rather rare error.
You can either try resynthing (it will have to recalculate the positions of the photos, but you probably won't have to upload any of the photos over again) and see if that pushes your original synth through or just wait a few more hours to see whether your synth shows up or not. Sometimes they just mysteriously decide to show up after a day or so when they've gotten stuck on publishing.
A 101 photo synth really shouldn't take long normally... probably two hours tops; publishing usually lasts much less than a minute.
Watch either of the following links to see if your synth shows up in the next day or so or you could just retry. It really should go much quicker this time.
Thanks Nathanael, I retry the Synth
Tom - I just looked at your profile, and can see the mammoth synth. Great work! Hopefully it will be the first of many. Be sure to check it out in overhead mode.
