I know Sony NEX series have a built in panorama mode but it doesn't do up and down. If you want to do up and down MS wants you to buy an Apple product. Not even Microsoft's own phone can do it yet. Go buy Apple.

Does Microsoft have plans to use Photosynth in their own phones? When?

AnnaAnna, I can't tell you when Photosynth will have a version of their mobile Photosynth app for Windows Phone, but they do plan on getting one out.

Here's a few quotes to that effect: http://bit.ly/synthywinphonedoc

I think that about a year ago, the Photosynth team thought that their Windows Phone app would be ready before the end of 2011, but that turned out not to be the case. I don't know how many programmers the Photosynth team currently has at their disposal, but hopefully some of them are working away on the Windows Phone version.

In the mean time, you can simply take photos with a camera or your camera app on your phone and stitch the photos into a panorama with Microsoft ICE http://bit.ly/microsoftice or a photosynth with Photosynth http://photosynth.net/create.aspx

I've been doing this with my phone and here are a couple of example panoramas that I took yesterday. I didn't capture up and down, but I could have if I wanted. Both are much higher resolution than they would have been if I used Photosynth's mobile app.

Ekaterinakasia, you may want to look into spherical lenses for your camera, which will allow you to capture at least half a sphere in one shot + a full in two shots.

I know many cameras can make panoramic photos like canon, nikon nowadays, but like what you said is less, maybe you can try some softwares, as long as you take some pictures, they can help you stitch photos to panorama, some of them even can stitch video frames.~~
the following links are how to make panorama and stitch video frames.
