This may be a stupid question but how do you embed a synth into a website using macromedia dreamweaver?THANKS FOR THE HELP

Hi there.

When in Dreamweaver, find the place in the page that you want to place the synth and click there.

Now switch to code view/html view (I forget exactly what they call it, but you should now be seeing html code instead of the page how you would see it in a web browser).

Visit whatever synth on the site you'd like to embed and click the first of the four icons next to the lower right-hand corner of the synth. It should look like a pair of angle brackets. When it pops up the little snippet of code copy it all. (I like to use Ctrl+X to cut it rather than copy it because it shows if you missed part.)

Now, simply paste that html code into the html view of your page in Dreamweaver. You'll see that the default size of the synth is 500 pixels wide by 300 tall. You can change those numbers to anything you'd like and may even be able to resize by simply dragging and dropping the corner once you've switched back to WYSIWYG mode in Dreamweaver.

You probably won't be able to see the synth while in Dreamweaver's editor but save your page after you first embed the synth code and preview it in your browser. It should work right away. Let me know if it doesn't.

Some sites out there (such as Facebook, Live Spaces, and Wordpress) strip out certain html tags, such as the iframe that Photosynth uses. If you're using Dreamweaver, though, I'm assuming that you have your own server space somewhere where you make the rules, not someone else as to what html you can use on your pages. Also, if you run a Wordpress blog on your own server then you could make your own decision there too.

Finally a few tips about the code itself. There are a few options that you can customise for yourself.

Example code:

delayLoad (Set this to false if you don't want the synth do require a click before loading.)

slideShowPlaying (Set this to true if you'd like your synth to act like the big one on the photosynth.net home page. That is to say, it will start playing the slideshow as soon as someone loads the page.)

As I mentioned above, you can customise the width and height parameters to whatever looks good to you.

Good luck!

Hmm. The photosynth forum stripped out the example html code. :)

I'll try it again here with the outer brackets missing.

Example code:
iframe frameborder="0" src="http://photosynth.net/embed.aspx?cid=ffb2be4d-34f0-44c4-a8f6-c0a038fde3b8&delayLoad=true&slideShowPlaying=false" width="500" height="300"></iframe
