Can’t seem to get something to synth right? Curious about what lens is best? Ask your fellow Photosynthers here.
Back in the land of broadband and went to install on a new machine and the link is broken. Is there a major change happening??
Gary, good to see you again! I just now uninstalled and redownloaded the Photosynth app from http://photosynth.net/create.aspx and didn't experience any problems. Do either of these links work for you? http://photosynth.net/installer/PhotosynthInstall.exe http://mslabs-999.vo.llnwd.net/e1/installer/PhotosynthInstall_21103171042.exe
Gary -- we did re-sign and re-publish our installer last Friday (the signing certificate was about to expire). Like Nathanael reported, we haven't seen or heard of anyone else having recent problems of downloading it though. What exactly happens when you click the "Install" link? Thanks, David. Group Program Manager for Photosynth. Microsoft
Thanks for your replies both, after downloading it tells me its not a valid win32 application, on both your links as well Nathanael. I am wondering if I am missing something on this laptop. Any thoughts??
Its running XP, yes I know I should upgrade
That sounds like an incomplete download. What size is the installer file for you when it finishes? It's listed as 11,217KB on my machine.
Aha, its about 10.5 when I try, let me try again right now
Oh ok its actually 11, but still does not work, I don't suppose you could email me a copy of yours?? Or perhaps place it on the Ning and I can pick it up from there. G
It looks like our CDN partner (who caches the installer file at different locations around the world) has a corrupted version of the file on one of their servers. Gary -- if you have a moment, could you please run the ping command on mslabs-999.vo.llnwd.net and tell me what IP address it corresponds to? I will get Limelight (the CDN provider) working on it in parallel. Thanks, David.
Its I think 87.248.210.253 David I hope thats right and made sense
Just for completeness, there's another similar recent report of this in this other discussion: http://photosynth.net/discussion.aspx?cat=a6bad539-de7d-4a16-8c4d-b143f7d5f984&dis=203f081e-fc1d-4382-870c-339502d2d2b2
