According to folklore, midsummer is also the most powerfull night of the year. As a result, suprisingly many babies are said to be born in March and April. There's no midnight sun in Oslo (you have to go up north a bit for that), but it's not dark out. "Kon-Tiki (after the Inca Sun god) is the balsa raft used by norwegian explorer and writer Thor Heyerdhal in his 1947 expedition across the Pacyfic Ocean from South America to the Polynesian Islands. Heyerdhal believed that the people from South America could have settled Polynesia in pre-Columbian times. In 1969 and 1970, Hayerdhal built two boats named "Ra" (after the Egyptian Sun god) from papyrus based on dravings from ancient Egypt and attemted to cross the Atlantic Ocean from Marocco in Africa. The boat "Ra II" reached Barbados, thus demonstrating that marines could have dealt with trans-Atlantic voyages by saling with Canary Current. Technical information: Canon5D 12,9mpx, ISO100, Canon24-105L at 30mm, multipoint AF, manual exp., f16, 30s each shot, tripod with"nodal" head, 62 shots RAW, ICE stitcher. Its main attraction is the impressive polarship FRAM (eng. "Forward") from 1892. It is said that the FRAM is the strongest wooden ship ever build. It was designed for Fridtjof Nansen's 1893 Arctic expedition and was supposed to freeze into the ice sheet and float with it over North Pole. Nansen's idea was to build a ship that could survive the pressure not by pure strenght but because it would be of shape designed to let the ice push the ship up, so it would "float" on top of the the ice. The ship had spent nearly 3 years baset in the Arctic ice. YT video is not of mine, it is just exemple. I added technical information to description. I think fisheye lens gives poor resolution of pano 360/180 if you want to deep zoomm inn.
