This series of photos was taken from Deck 12 of the Carnival Glory sailing out of the port of Manhattan on June 18th. The weather was hot and hazy, with the normal smoggy foggy cloud around the city. With some color correction, I was able to get the pictures to clear up a lot, but still not really sharp. These were shot with my Nikon D300s, with the 18-200mm VR lens with most of these shots being fully extended. Sorry about the spots on the lens... I thought I had cleaned it sufficiently before heading out that morning. GO YOU ES OF AY&#33;&#33;&#33;&#33;"<div class="commentBlock font12">

I noticed that the sign on the gate said that visitors are welcome, so I went in. The Circular Church of Charleston is one of the oldest churches in the south, dating back to 1681. It&#39;s the site of the city&#39;s oldest burial grounds, dating to 1695. &#10;&#10;While touring the grounds, it&#39;s hard not to notice the unique circular design of the building. I also happen to be intrigued by old cemetaries, so I spent some time taking pictures. Enjoy &#61;&#41;"<div class="commentBlock font12">

Photos ranged from the begining of the event &#40;10AM&#41; to the end of the event &#40;4PM&#41;. There were a few organized groups that coordinated the effort, but probably half or more of the attendees were just regular people &#40;like me&#41; that came to DC with no affiliation or orgainization. Crowd estimates range from 50,000 to 2,000,000. There was a Park Service helicopter that flew over several times that day, and from reviewing past photos and Park Service estimates, I estimate that the crowd was between 300K and 500K attendees. The Million Man March from 1994 was aiming for 1 million people, and only hit 400,000. I think that this crowd was right around the same size. I have more pictures of solid crowds going for half of a mile down Constitution Ave. and Pennsylvania Ave. Regardless of the exact head-count, this was definitely one of the largest gatherings at the Capitol Building in history... but the mainstream media &#40;not surprisingly&#41; refused to cover it.&#13;&#10;&#13;&#10;The Park Service stated that &#34;other groups&#34; had taken out permits for the center mall area before us, and therefore pushed our groups out onto Constitution and nearby avenues. To me, this would seem like a simple way to make the crowd size appear smaller because &#34;it didn&#39;t even fill the mall&#34;."<div class="commentBlock font12">

If there&#39;s a setting on your lights to have them stay on solidly, rather than blinking I think I&#39;d try it the next time you&#39;ve got a tree decorated. You might even through in a tripod just for extra clarity.
