Located East of Stuttgart &#40;Baden-W&#252;rttemberg&#41; on the Stuttgart-Aalen rail line. Road exits are off of Bundesstrasse 29. Founded around 1235 C.E. the town was destroyed in 1634, during the 30 Years War by the troops of the Catholic League. Many of the Fachwerk buildings date from that period. The town has escaped any major destruction since the 17th Century. Schorndorf was home to Gottlieb Daimler, the major figure in the development of the internal combusion engine for the automobile and founder of Daimler Benz. Market is still held each Tuesday and Saturday."<div class="commentBlock font12">
