Nijo-jo Castle

"The Nijo-jo castle is located in the center of Kyoto, Japan. The castle grounds are expansive and could not be captured in a single synth. This is a small garden near the middle of the grounds. See the geotag to get a better sense of the scale. The "hay sculpture" is actually straw being used to protect a plant from the winter cold. You might find some snow in a couple of the photos. It snowed the morning I took these photos."

Hey thank you for your comment on my old synth. Synths are pretty easy once you get the hang of things. I just need to get a good camera now. Since this is just a hobby and I'm flat broke, it's probably not gonna happen any time soon :p I really wanna make a good synth of the manhattan bridge one day.

I completely agree. My ethernet cable/data bus usually can't load all the tiles in time for long paths, so the basic result was just bumping into a bunch of pixelated garbage between highlight A and highlight B. This new technique sidesteps that entire mess and retains context very beautifully and clearly.

It must look especially pretty on top of a map.
