Thanks!

I definitely enjoyed my time there. My friends had apparently had enough of the water from our canoeing earlier that day, but I just couldn't pass up taking a quick dip and trip down the slide before we headed back to their place.

I'm definitely missing Florida. Back in the chilly rain soaked northwest now. =)

Yeah, it turned out alright for not having a tripod and being shot in a hurry. There's way too many half joined beams for me to be overjoyed, but it serves the purpose of giving people a look around.

Heheh. Thanks, I think. ツ

There's a weird flaw in the point cloud in that there's actually two reconstructions which overlap each other (note the multiple representations of the potato chip bowl), but aren't merged and are represented at two different scales and angles. I think I might be able to make it go away if I place the photos into Photosynth in a different order (and thus give it a different beginning pair of images to begin reconstruction from), but that's a bit of a roll of the dice.

Thanks.

Yeh, I should have put more effort into shooting this, for sure. It's just begging for long exposures on a tripod, but that would have meant moving everything to a location where the tripod could move all the way around without running me into walls, hedges, etc. and the pumpkin seemed rather fragile, so I didn't tempt fate.

The photos with the flash really detract from the mood, but on the other hand are much better for the synther. I have yet to do any research about whether my camera has any built in support for exposure bracketing, but that might be one way to go next time.

Perhaps I can figure that out in time for Christmas holidays.

I had tried my hand at synthing a few of the major landmarks there some time ago, but included some photos of one of the statues that I had shot some time before and unfortunately didn't shoot any shots moving between it and the rest of the scene.

I had then shot the necessary transition shots, but had been busy with other synths and projects. I had also tried the entire original set with the new transition shots and Photosynth had run out of RAM while reconstructing the scene, so I sacrificed some shots of the greenery around the Circuit Rider statue and came out with this result which I'm content with for now.

The original is available here: http://photosynth.net/view.aspx?cid=7601f632-ee89-4177-aa94-334295edfa82"

After you click on the synth, use the [P] key to turn on the point cloud 3D model behind the photos. You can toggle between Photos Only, Photos + Points, Points only, and back to Photos Only again.

Also check out Overhead View by using the [T] key. From overhead, you can click on any part of the point cloud to swoop down to a photo of that part of the scene.

If you get lost or decide that you would rather look at the photos like a gallery, you can try out 2D view by using the [~] key and zoom in and out of all of the photos by pointing your mouse cursor at what you want to move toward and using your scrollwheel.
