Nine Dragon Screen Wall, Forbidden City, Beijing

by Fred_Oxford "This huge glazed screen wall which faces the Huang Ji Men in the Forbidden City in Beijing, was constructed when Emperor Qianlong renovated the Ning Shou Gong (Palace of Peace and Longevity). The detail on the relief sculpture makes this an interesting "2D" synth. This sequence was captured using a Canon 5D Mk II, with a Canon EF 24-105mm USM L4 IS lens, during a visit to Beijing in May 2009."

by lostinthetriangle ""Unfinished" Church St. George's Bermuda These ruins are a protected historic monument and part of the St. George's World Heritage Site. Work commenced on this intended replacement for St Peter’s Church in 1874 but bickering within the Anglican community coupled with severe storm damage caused the project to be abandoned. My Primary School was located next door, I remember a hurricane in the early 70's that ripped off what little of the roof remained. As the structure is made of soft Bermuda stone, left to the elements, time, wind, rain and Hurricanes had caused a lot of damage. The National Trust hired a stone mason in the 90's to do extensive work on the property just to prevent further damage and erosion."
