The area has a long but often hidden history, as nature has reclaimed mans once overwhelming activities that once placed roads and improved trails through mountain valleys denuded of vegetation by the cutting of trees for charcoal for local iron furnaces. The workers are gone, the furnace and wheel pit are a ruin, as is the foot bridge abutment, which forms the perch from which this synth was taken. Nature has reclaimed the site to the point that the casual observer would not even suspect that man had made his mark here."

<a10:updated>2009-09-06T12:14:56Z</a10:updated><a10:content type="text/html" src="http://photosynth.net/view/2a43b16c-7fa9-46fe-8617-0eb3b414b0cf" />

<a10:author><a10:name>CarolineM</a10:name><a10:uri>http://photosynth.net/userprofilepage.aspx?user=CarolineM</a10:uri></a10:author>
Sounion - Temple of Poseidon

<img src="http://cdn3.ps1.photosynth.net/synth/s01001300-AJ0OCJMygyM/metadata.synth_files/thumb.jpg" alt="Sounion - Temple of Poseidon" title"Sounion - Temple of Poseidon" /> by CarolineM "Sounion is on the southern end of Attica.
