It's a work in progress! It's gorgeous just as it is and very fun to explore both in person and via Photosynth. Even the attic and the basement are cool.

Normally I wouldn't recommend synthing 1700 images, but I decided to give it a shot because a) I was curious to see if it'd work and b) to show off the capabilities of the new highlights feature.

Obviously it did work so check on that front (I borrowed a few hours on a server with 8 cores and 8Gb RAM if you're curious). Finding your way between rooms without the highlights is difficult, it's so much more fun to just click the highlight buttons and fly there! The enormous size does expose the limits of the Photosynth viewer though, it just wasn't designed to scale to this level and sometimes it's slow even on a modern machine with a fast connection. I'd recommend 500 or 600 images as the upper practical limit for users to have a good viewing experience and 300 is even better."

<a10:updated>2009-04-21T12:43:31Z</a10:updated><a10:content type="text/html" src="http://photosynth.net/view/a2c8398d-1d5d-4c6b-b36a-51d9e2e222b6" />

<a10:author><a10:name>K</a10:name><a10:uri>http://photosynth.net/userprofilepage.aspx?user=K</a10:uri></a10:author>
Orionwerk 4x5 folding camera (with highlights)

<img src="http://cdn3.ps1.photosynth.net/synth/s01001300-AEoSGbb9jCM/metadata.synth_files/thumb.jpg" alt="Orionwerk 4x5 folding camera (with highlights)" title"Orionwerk 4x5 folding camera (with highlights)" /> by K "My mother in law collects antique cameras and this is one of the cooler ones she owns. The plat on the front says "Orionwerk AG Hannover Germany". The lens appears to be a 150mm Schneider Kreuznach Xenar f/4.5.

I made this synth as an example of how (and how not) to make a synth of an object. I put the camera on a white table and used the spot meter to cause the table to be overexposed. Overall it came out pretty well although if you switch to 2D mode you can see that most of my attempts at detail shots didn't register because there was too much of an angle difference between the detail shots and the coverage shots."

<a10:updated>2008-10-24T10:46:15Z</a10:updated><a10:content type="text/html" src="http://photosynth.net/view/72f4e2a1-87fe-4c2a-9e14-92b54b96385a" />

<a10:author><a10:name>ChrisInSeattle</a10:name><a10:uri>http://photosynth.net/userprofilepage.aspx?user=ChrisInSeattle</a10:uri></a10:author>
Vatican

<img src="http://cdn1.ps1.photosynth.net/synth/s01001100-AKICJKaccyM/metadata.synth_files/thumb.jpg" alt="Vatican" title"Vatican" /> by ChrisInSeattle

<a10:updated>2008-10-13T22:26:15Z</a10:updated><a10:content type="text/html" src="http://photosynth.net/view/f3fb7a54-a3bb-438c-b6dd-0cb4bd609308" />

<a10:author><a10:name>EdLee</a10:name><a10:uri>http://photosynth.net/userprofilepage.aspx?user=EdLee</a10:uri></a10:author>
Shotokan Ohshima Dojo

<img src="http://cdn4.ps1.photosynth.net/synth/s01001400-AMwSIVUPkCM/metadata.synth_files/thumb.jpg" alt="Shotokan Ohshima Dojo" title"Shotokan Ohshima Dojo" /> by EdLee "Big synth: may take over a minute to load.

Shotokan Karate of America (SKA)

http://www.ska.org

P - Point Cloud
F - Full Screen"

<a10:updated>2009-04-11T20:50:06Z</a10:updated><a10:content type="text/html" src="http://photosynth.net/view/f6cf5b40-7743-4677-880c-a40d1892760c" />

<a10:author><a10:name>lostinthetriangle</a10:name><a10:uri>http://photosynth.net/userprofilepage.aspx?user=lostinthetriangle</a10:uri></a10:author>
St. Peters Church walkthrough

<img src="http://cdn4.ps1.photosynth.net/synth/s01001400-ADYMC3GffCM/metadata.synth_files/thumb.jpg" alt="St. Peters Church walkthrough" title"St. Peters Church walkthrough" /> by lostinthetriangle "St. Peter's Church --the parish church of St. Georges and probably the site of the oldest Anglican church in the Western Hemisphere. St. Peter's Church, believed to be the oldest Anglican place of worship in the Western Hemisphere. Colonists built the original church in 1612 almost entirely of cedar, with a palmetto-leaf thatched roof. A hurricane in 1712 destroyed it almost completely. Some of the interior, including the original altar from 1615 (still used daily), was salvaged, and the church was rebuilt in 1713. It has been restored many times since, providing excellent examples of the architectural styles of the 17th to the 20th century. The tower was added in 1814. Before the Old State House was built, the colony held public meetings in the church. The first assize (legislative assembly) convened here in 1616, and the first meeting of Parliament was held in 1620. The church holds Sunday and weekday services.

Some of the tombstones in the Graveyard of St. Peter's (entrance opposite Broad Alley) are more than 3 centuries old; many tombs mark the graves of slaves. Here you'll find the grave of Midshipman Richard Dale, an American who was the last victim of the War of 1812. The churchyard also holds the tombs of Gov. Sir Richard Sharples and his aide, Capt. Hugh Sayers, who were assassinated while strolling on the grounds of Government House in 1973.

Trying to understand how to do a perfect walk through. I shot more or less at one level while advancing. What I have noticed on previous attempts is that the program gets confused once it looses the way then it breaks up the synth
Will try to build on this test

Adding more pictures from the other day seems to give me a better cloud point, but at the same time confuse the photosynthing process. The walkthrough gets mixed up and you get "off the path"
Does the order of the pictures have anything to do with this?
Or am I trying to put too much in this one synth?
I need to get higher!"

<a10:updated>2009-01-27T20:01:57Z</a10:updated><a10:content type="text/html" src="http://photosynth.net/view/9b11b291-6d74-41b6-8408-4cda578e6830" />

<a10:author><a10:name>lostinthetriangle</a10:name><a10:uri>http://photosynth.net/userprofilepage.aspx?user=lostinthetriangle</a10:uri></a10:author>
"Unfinished" Church St. George's Bermuda

<img src="http://cdn3.ps1.photosynth.net/synth/s01001300-AAQSvZfpiyM/metadata.synth_files/thumb.jpg" alt=""Unfinished" Church St. George's Bermuda" title""Unfinished" Church St. George's Bermuda" /> by lostinthetriangle ""Unfinished" Church St. George's Bermuda

These ruins are a protected historic monument and part of the St. George's World Heritage Site.

Work commenced on this intended replacement for St Peter’s Church in 1874 but bickering within the Anglican community coupled with severe storm damage caused the project to be abandoned.

My Primary School was located next door, I remember a hurricane in the early 70's that ripped off what little of the roof remained.

As the structure is made of soft Bermuda stone, left to the elements, time, wind, rain and Hurricanes had caused a lot of damage.

The National Trust hired a stone mason in the 90's to do extensive work on the property just to prevent further damage and erosion."

<a10:updated>2009-02-05T07:00:35Z</a10:updated><a10:content type="text/html" src="http://photosynth.net/view/03650ff3-2ed0-426c-a5ba-8892235653ed" />

<a10:author><a10:name>lostinthetriangle</a10:name><a10:uri>http://photosynth.net/userprofilepage.aspx?user=lostinthetriangle</a10:uri></a10:author>
Gates Fort St. George Bermuda (Not complete yet)

<img src="http://cdn1.ps1.photosynth.net/synth/s01001100-ABUUmqWSmiM/metadata.synth_files/thumb.jpg" alt="Gates Fort St. George Bermuda (Not complete yet)" title"Gates Fort St. George Bermuda (Not complete yet)" /> by lostinthetriangle "Gate's Fort,
was constructed between 1612 and 1615 and takes its name from Sir Thomas Gates, Governor elect of Jamestown, Virginia, from 1609

Because he was shipwrecked off Bermuda along with Admiral Sir George Somers and colonists from the flagship "Sea Venture," he governed Bermuda from 1609-1610 before he became the first Governor of Virginia in 1610.

Its chief attractions today are its stunning views of the sea and its site at the edge of the "Town Cut," the narrow channel leading from the open sea into St. George's Harbor.
