by synthsing "Singapore's National Stadium - The Old Lady of Kallang Singapore's National Stadium at Kallang, or more affectionately called the "Old Lady of Kallang", brings much memory to many Singaporeans. Since its opening in 1973, it has played host to many different events, ranging from National Day Parades, Singapore Youth Festival , visit by Pope John Paul II and many other sporting events. After 34 years of service to Singapore, an official closing ceremony was held for the National Stadium on 30 June 2007. The National Stadium was slated to be demolished from 2007 to make way for a new Sports Hub which will feature state-of-the-art international standard sporting facilities. However, due to delays in the Sports Hub project, the National Stadium had to delay its retirement, playing host to a few other sporting events before it finally hang up its boots in 2010. With such great memories associated with the National Stadium, our team decided to take our photos at night (which proved to be a challenge due to the dim lightings) and edited the colours of the photos to portray the sense of nostalgia. The National Stadium is a iconic structure in Singapore and we hope that our efforts to create this PhotoSynth will play a part in documenting a portion of Singapore's history."
