"View from Botanical Gardens in Funchal, Madeira, Portugal. March 3, 2010. I checked out Funchal in Photosynth before our trip and recognized this view when we got to the Gardens. So, I thought I'd give it a try myself! Underneath the bridge, toward the sea, you can see a waterfall that is flowing more than normal and some damage from the water on the road. There was a flood and mudslides on the island just days before we came. A local said that this waterfall normally was a trickle and that what we were seeing then was nothing compared to when the flood happened! I thought Photosynth user alanch did a great job and it was helpful to get a little idea of what to expect when we arrived. "Pictures taken approaching the Port of Funchal, on the island of Madeira, Portugal. This was a beautiful island. They had very heavy rains the week before and had many deaths. You can see the soil runoff in the water in some pictures. Things were damaged on the island but they were working hard to get everything back to normal."
