Traditional coffee shops and a wet market jostle for space aside ritzy wine bars and fine dining restaurants.&#10;&#10;Located in a small commercial enclave near the Buona Vista MRT Station close to the Queenstown area in Singapore, Holland Village is a popular venue for younger Singaporeans and expatriates. It is dominated by and often visited solely for its eateries and watering holes, along with some specialist shops selling non-traditional wares.&#10;&#10;Holland Village was named after Holland Road which in turn was named after Hugh Holland in 1907. Hugh Holland was an early resident in Singapore, he was an architect and an amateur actor. The roads Holland Avenue, Holland Close and Holland Drive were officially named after the principal road in 1972. Holland Road is known as hue hng au in Hokkien, meaning &#34;behind the flower garden&#34;. The &#34;flower garden&#34; refers to the Botanic Gardens.&#10;&#10;Many food chains in Singapore, such as Crystal Jade, BreadTalk, The Coffee Bean, Burger King, Subway, Indochine and H&#228;agen-Dazs, are located in Holland Village. A 24-hour kopitiam, a market and a food court are also present with food stalls selling local and western dishes. Other eating places include Swensen&#39;s, Thai Express and several dessert, Western cuisine and Japanese cuisine outlets. The gentrification of the Holland V area is characterised by the more up-market dining options such as the numerous ethnic restaurants as well as franchises such as Marmalade Pantry and Tapas Bar.&#10;&#10;Other prominent bars include Tango&#39;s, Baden and Harry&#39;s Bar. However, Wala Wala remains the grand dame of the bars along the Lorong Mambong stretch. This decade-old two-storey stalwart packs a crowd that ranges from varsity students to yuppies with its laid back atmosphere and nightly live music.&#10;&#10;Holland Village also has a great variety of commercial amenities ranging from a Cold Storage supermarket branch &#40;part of The Dairy Farm Group&#41;, to antique shops.&#10;&#10;Other commercial amenities include banking services, Guardian Pharmacy, 7-Eleven and a photo processing shop called Photo Finish. There are two shopping centres in Holland Village, Holland Road Shopping Centre and Holland V Shopping Mall.&#10;&#10;For more information, please visit&#58;&#10;http&#58;&#47;&#47;en.wikipedia.org&#47;wiki&#47;Holland_Village,_Singapore"<div class="commentBlock font12">

<div class="commentText">I can&#39;t believe it has that many favorites. I would have prefered to see a continous 360 pano, not this. It just looks like shots piled on top of eachother.</div>

It was formed in 2008 from the damming of the mouth of the Kallang Basin. Situated at the heart of the up-and-coming Marina South district, the Marina Reservoir is an iconic venue with Singapore&#8217;s business and financial district as its backdrop.&#10;&#10;With the completion of the Marina Barrage, the reservoir, which contained mainly salt water, would become freshwater in a few years when excess water will be released out to the sea after heavy rains. The catchment area that is resulted from the forming of the reservoir is about one-third the size of Singapore, and two of the island&#39;s major rivers - Singapore River, Kallang River and Geylang River, as well as Rochor River, a tributary of the Kallang River flow into it.&#10;&#10;The Marina Reservoir is a choice venue for a wide range of water-based activities including hosting the canoe-kayak and rowing events. The area includes a one-kilometre straight race course for canoeing and rowing activities. The Singapore Canoe Marathon 2009 was staged at the Marina Reservoir in January 2009.&#10;&#10;The on-land staging of canoeing and rowing competitions is along a portion of Gardens by the Bay &#8211; a new 32-hectare park next to the Marina Reservoir. With an extensive water frontage along the Marina Reservoir, the Gardens will provide an excellent vantage point.&#10;&#10;The facilities at the reservoir during Singapore 2010 &#40;the First Youth Olympic Games&#41; include a boat-storage shed for up to 200 boats, a boat-washing area, toilets and showers, and a doping-control station. A seating gallery for approximately 1,000 spectators will be constructed.&#10;&#10;The Marina Barrage is part of a comprehensive flood control scheme to alleviate flooding in the low-lying areas in the city such as Chinatown, Boat Quay, Jalan Besar and Geylang. During heavy rain, the series of nine crest gates at the dam will be activated to release excess storm water into the sea when the tide is low. In the case of high tide, giant pumps which are capable of pumping an Olympics-size swimming pool per minute will drain excess storm water into the sea.&#10;&#10;For information, please visit&#58;&#10;http&#58;&#47;&#47;www.bing.com&#47;reference&#47;semhtml&#47;Marina_Reservoir&#63;sids&#61;2&#38;q&#61;Marina&#43;Reservoir&#38;qpvt&#61;Marina&#43;Reservoir"<div class="commentBlock font12">
