(guided tour, and scavenger hunt!)" /></a> "The A-Bomb Dome is the only preserved building from the atomic bomb detonation of August 6, 1945 during WWII. Being an American, I&#39;m tied to this place by my country&#39;s history. I was very interested to get viewpoints from the other side&#59; to find out what the Dome meant to Japanese people. So, I walked up and introduced myself in Japanese to meet them in their language first... then asked&#33; For the rest of the story, go to my blog here http&#58;&#47;&#47;www.travelpod.com&#47;travel-blog-entries&#47;swami_worldtrav&#47;4&#47;1255705407&#47;tpod.html .&#10;&#10;&#42;&#42;&#42; I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you start with the &#39;Highlights.&#39; I&#39;ve sequenced them for your maximum enjoyment&#58;&#41; START WITH THE ONE TITLED, &#34;WELCOME&#33;&#34; &#42;&#42;&#42;&#10;&#10;&#42; IMPORTANT&#58; READ THIS...&#10;&#10;QUICK HELP&#58; Photosynth Navigation&#10;- Navigation is fairly easy, but you have to push the right buttons&#58;&#41; Hopefully, this Quick Help will get you going and ensure you have a wonderful experience, &#42;&#42;&#42; because this thing can be VERY cool&#33;&#58;&#41; &#42;&#42;&#42;&#10;- There are actually TWO navigation interfaces. The default one requires you install Silverlight. Most any computer can run it and it has some nice features. The other, which I HIGHLY recommend for &#34;point clouds,&#34; is the &#34;Direct3D Viewer.&#34; Click on the green text, &#34;View Synth in Direct3D Viewer&#34; to the lower-left of the viewing area.&#10;- In both interfaces you will see icons for pan, zoom, full-screen, etc. Click them all&#33;&#58;&#41;&#10;- Silverlight has a cool &#34;Overhead&#34; feature. Try it&#33;&#10;- Use the SpaceBar to take a sort of guided tour. Successively tap it.&#10;- Use the &#62; and &#60; keys to move fwd&#47;bwd in the order the photos were taken.&#10;- Use the &#43; and - keys to zoom in&#47;out.&#10;- You can also use the cursor arrows, or click-n-drag the mouse.&#10;- The GO BACK icon is very useful&#33;&#10;&#42; One very cool thing is the &#34;point cloud.&#34; This is a 3D approximation of scene objects &#40;like the Dome&#33;&#41;. At any time, HOLD the control key down. Now here&#39;s the way cool part&#58; if in the center of the screen a &#34;donut&#34; or arrows appear, you can click it and drag the mouse to orbit around the object. You can even see it from angles not taken by the photographer&#33; Be sure to continue holding the mouse. the Direct3D Viewer is MUCH better at this. Use P to toggle the point cloud.&#10;- The Sliverlight interface provides a &#34;Highlights&#34; bar to the right for quick navigation to points of interest.&#10;- Of course, you can always just hit the play icon and sit back and enjoy. Whatever suits your fancy&#58;&#41; Definitely put it in full-screen, though.&#10;&#10;All right, it&#39;s actually quite easy once you get the hang of it, and it&#39;s LOTS OF FUN&#33; So, have a play&#33;&#58;&#41;...&#10;&#10;P.S. Navigation can be a little confusing at times, but don&#39;t sweat it. You can always reorient yourself using the Highlights, the Overhead, or even the Image Grid View &#40;use the tilde &#126; key&#41;."<div class="commentBlock font12">

<span class="font10">Over 1 year ago</span>
<div class="commentText">Aye, I agree. I like the thumbnail strip along the bottom of the viewer as it&#39;s a throwback to the CTP Photosynth viewer from 2006&#47;2007&#47;2008 but you actually missed a month or so there where before the thumbnails showed up in the geo-align control where there was a miniature Photosynth viewer embedded in the right hand side panel which functioned completely as normal, while the frustum of your current position showed in overhead view in the main window, as it does now.<br/><br/>This meant that you could play the slideshow, use &#91;,&#93; and &#91;.&#93; to navigate in filename order, etc. In short, there was just more control over what order you moved through the synth as well as the benefit of just setting the slideshow up and being able to sit back and observe the camera move through the scene.</div>

<div class="commentText">Just notices why some of these clumped... and it&#39;s not because of my pretty face &#40;haha&#41;. It&#39;s mostly due to background objects. The soft images suggest the intimate nature of the evening&#58;&#41; &#10;&#10;There&#39;s only one relatively big clump &#40;i.e. group of connected fotos&#41;, plus 4 small ones &#40;of just 2 to 4 fotos&#41;, and 15 stray, loner fotos. That&#39;s what ya get sometimes, I guess. Perhaps it works better as a foto album than a synth environment.&#10;&#10;There are a few notable fotos, including an interesting coincidental flash in the background of Jose taking a foto of friends, a nice &#34;embrace&#34; shot, a ghostly dancing Lorna, a &#34;thru the window&#34; famed composition, plus some other incidental &#34;social&#34; shots."

<a10:updated>2009-03-01T23:30:25Z</a10:updated><a10:content type="text/html" src="http://photosynth.net/view/713246e7-da4a-4231-9cbf-75fd278c9ea0" />

<a10:author><a10:name>swami_worldtraveler</a10:name><a10:uri>http://photosynth.net/userprofilepage.aspx?user=swami_worldtraveler</a10:uri></a10:author>
Café de Antaño - Farewell Gala! WOW!" /></a> "MORE FOTOS THIS TIME&#33;&#58;&#41;&#10;&#10;Caf&#233; de Anta&#241;o, located in Orlando, FL, is a wonderful little gathering of Latin culture. Sadly, after many years of contribution to and support of the community, this hub is closing&#58;&#40; But the people and spirit will surely remain and continue to gather where and when possible&#58;&#41;&#10;&#10;Que disprute del synth&#58;&#41;&#10;&#10;NOTE&#58; I must say, this turned out EXCELLENT, and w&#47; several nice surprises&#33; It&#39;s like no other synth I&#39;ve seen. The 75 fotos span a 6 hour period &#40;10pm - 4am&#33;&#41;. I was there, so I know what I&#39;m looking at, but I hope you, too, get the sense of celebration and joy. Hit the PLAY icon, or better yet, step thru using SPACEBAR&#47;Shift_SPACEBAR to allow time for the full-res images to appear. There are some amazing, and unexpected transitions.&#10;&#10;JALEO&#33; &#40;Spanish for &#34;lively, loud party&#33;&#34;&#41; The night&#39;s festivities included live music featuring many musicians, singers, and instruments &#40;guitar, 10-string &#39;cuatro Puertorrique&#241;o,&#39; violin, congas, bongos, even a scraped percussion &#39;g&#252;iro&#39; &#41;, plus poetry reading, speeches, dancing, singing, clapping, food, drink, smiles, big card signing, even a couple birthdays&#33; And more&#33;&#10;&#10;The stitched environment has some interesting &#34;unnatural&#34; pans with people &#34;next&#34; to each other, but from different times in the evening. I think this just adds to the appeal of this synth.&#10;&#10;The more I use Photosynth, the more I&#39;m convinced that 100&#37; synthiness is not necessary, or even desirable for a successful synth experience. I would love to see added&#58; hotspot info pop-up and hyperlinking &#40;within the synth, and externally&#41;, and image captioning to name a couple that have come to mind.&#10;&#10;So, I&#39;d love to hear what you think&#33;..."

<a10:updated>2009-03-01T21:28:00Z</a10:updated><a10:content type="text/html" src="http://photosynth.net/view/77c24dcf-8679-40b8-a0ec-6cf04e495cd3" />

<a10:author><a10:name>swami_worldtraveler</a10:name><a10:uri>http://photosynth.net/userprofilepage.aspx?user=swami_worldtraveler</a10:uri></a10:author>
Mayan Ruins of Palenque

<a href="http://photosynth.net/view/0c71b1c4-8113-4bc4-bf4d-71ec4d9c6749"><img src="http://cdn3.ps1.photosynth.net/synth/s01001300-AC4Qad9ZhCM/metadata.synth_files/thumb.jpg" alt="Mayan Ruins of Palenque" title"Mayan Ruins of Palenque" /></a> "Mayan Ruins of Palenque.&#10;&#10;BLOG&#58;&#10;http&#58;&#47;&#47;www.travelpod.com&#47;travel-blog-entries&#47;swami_worldtrav&#47;1&#47;1234587660&#47;tpod.html&#10;&#10;Made some changes based on results of previous attempt&#58;&#10;&#10;- Removed &#34;gap filler&#34; photos, since they didn&#39;t work&#58;&#40; Live and learn.&#10;- Added a couple new fotos omitted in &#34;take 2.&#34;&#10;- Added fotos of hieroglyphs.
