Sorry, can help you here, I have never created that large PSB file. My biggest file is 12GB and there were no problems. I suppose that you have 64 bit Windows.

Hi,Martin,I have a 30.2G PSB files, can not be used in photoshop cs5 plugin upload to Photosynth website, and you know why?

MagiView (Over 1 year ago)
I use ICE for stitching: it's fast, easy to use, allows shooting with auto exposure and white balance - I find it just GREAT!

Lieutenant (Over 1 year ago)
Hi,Martin,I PSB save the use PTGUI, files modified PHOTOSHOP CS5 Save for PSB file, the file size small lot, a 22.6GB file, modify the dump only 7.69GB, do not know why,There is no way to fix it? Now what stitching software is relatively easy to use, strong function?

Thanks for your reply, CamDog. When are you going to publish another pano as great as this one?

CamDog (Over 1 year ago)
@MagiView: Thank you! Well, first I was surprised about the missing crane too. But I guess it happens during stitching, when many pictures from different sides and angles provide overlapping information. So your feet or standig (or the crane in this case) simply drops out when the output is rendered. Try to look down straight to the ground, zoom in and you will see at least some (yellow) remains of the crane.

CamDog (Over 1 year ago)
@Juanjo_Miralles: Thx! Indeed a very airy location, I like this place. First time I was there a strong wind was blowing, also moving the entire crane...

Martin_Kulhavy (Over 1 year ago)
There is relation between the resolution (in GPix) and the size (in GB), but the size also depends on other things, like compression, whether the file is saved layered on unlayered, ...You can easily estimate the resolution of the panorama by: (number of photos) x (one photo resolution) x 0.7 (overlap).

Martin_Kulhavy (Over 1 year ago)
I'll try to be brief. It is normal multi-row panoramic photo, you should be able to do this with "normal" equipment. 1) taking photos: You need a tripod. Panoramic head is better, but for these photos in not necessary. Take photos in multiple rows, keep about 20% overlap. The longer focal length the higher resolution. Start on about 50mm, once you have the experience, you can increase it. This pano is taken at 200mm; 6 rows, 45 columns. It is better to take portrait format (you get more sky). 2) Stitching. I use PtGui, but there are many other softwares doing the same work (Autopano, Hugin). There are plenty manuals for the programs. 3) stripes method. For these extreme large panoramas I use "stripe" method. I would take ages in Ptgui to create full pano in one go. I create several overlaping stripes (about 10 for this pano) and then I merge them together in Photoshop. If you have more question, feel free to ask me.

Rob1982 (Over 1 year ago)
Amaizing! How did you do it? Can you help me, or where can i found a manual? thank your Awesome work!

Andrew0002 (Over 1 year ago)
Thanks @HarasPlessis . I had to download the photos individually from the Raw Images page (see link in description). However, it appears for the mast cam that the images are saved sequentially so you can get to the images without having to navigate through their web page. Example: http://mars.jpl.nasa.gov/msl-raw-images/msss/00003/mcam/0003ML0000###000E1_DXXX.jpg The ### portion of the URL is the sequence number. This panorama was created from starting at 010, then 011, 012, 013 - all the way to 139. There are some images missing from this sequence, but NASA has been adding images steadily since the "brain transplant" completed - so hopefully I'll be able to fill in the gaps soon. Hopefully NASA will add a mass download option in the future.

HarasPlessis (Over 1 year ago)
Great Andrew. I have "favorited" it. Did you download each photo individually from the NASA website? Or is there a way of downloading bundles?

Great, this idea of labeling a pano. I intend to do the same with sme of my panos of Brussels... I just read that you are the head og the ICE design team. Congratulations, it's a great, fast and easy-to-use software - I use it for most of my panos. However, it is not very repeatable, and it can't stitch "horizontal" panos shot with long telephotos (such as 25 photos on one row). Are you aware of these problems? Would you like me to document them for you? Also, would you like to have some "magic tricks" for removing the haze in panos like this one? Jacques (2011 "at" magiview "dot" com).
