^_^ Aye, treading carefully through one's neighbors' rose bed requires some compromises in orbit shape. I do wish that the geometry on this had come out cleaner as the point cloud in Photosynth 1 was one of my favorite.

I love the "eccentric" ellipse shape. It's like the camera was a comet circling the sun.

Sorry it's not a more glamorous shoot. I wish I'd caught it before everyone had served themselves for the pictures' sake, but yes, quite tasty. ツ My aunt knows how to make the taste buds happy.

Looks extremely tasty!

The reverse trip from the same shoot is here: http://photosynth.net/preview/view/0a1a5d08-3fd5-4b0f-a0e1-6e9f59748934 but it's the same story, panning upward at the end, unfortunately. To be honest, the photos inside the capitol are some of my worst, but since you were talking about synth linking being actively worked on again, I wanted to extract slices of an old synth that was known to stick together and upload it as PS2 synths to see if I could get the whole experience linked in PS2.

Yeah, too bad. Both the Senate and the House were empty but had a velvet barrier across them most of the day when I shot this in 2010 and the janitorial staff were in there toward the afternoon and didn't want to be in my photos. I wasn't too sure how people would react to me taking all the photos I wanted so I was in a great hurry and unfortunately many of the shots turned out blurry but the overhead view of the lobby is largely intact in my original synth, even if a few pieces didn't integrate into Synth 0. http://photosynth.net/view.aspx?cid=169ef35b-b685-4d03-a6b1-3aa379fa411c I'd really like to shoot complete coverage in spherical panoramas with long exposures to blur out people, but need to get a Nodal Ninja tripod head first.

Hadn't noticed this one before, but I like it. Wish it had actually shown the interior of the senate rather than panning up to the signage :-)

Thanks! I definitely enjoyed my time there. My friends had apparently had enough of the water from our canoeing earlier that day, but I just couldn't pass up taking a quick dip and trip down the slide before we headed back to their place. I'm definitely missing Florida. Back in the chilly rain soaked northwest now. =)

I would so love to be here right about now! Nice shot(s)!

Yeah, it turned out alright for not having a tripod and being shot in a hurry. There's way too many half joined beams for me to be overjoyed, but it serves the purpose of giving people a look around.

Heheh. Thanks, I think. ツ There's a weird flaw in the point cloud in that there's actually two reconstructions which overlap each other (note the multiple representations of the potato chip bowl), but aren't merged and are represented at two different scales and angles. I think I might be able to make it go away if I place the photos into Photosynth in a different order (and thus give it a different beginning pair of images to begin reconstruction from), but that's a bit of a roll of the dice.

I love the absurdity of this. The 3D point cloud is pretty cool though.

Thanks. Yeh, I should have put more effort into shooting this, for sure. It's just begging for long exposures on a tripod, but that would have meant moving everything to a location where the tripod could move all the way around without running me into walls, hedges, etc. and the pumpkin seemed rather fragile, so I didn't tempt fate. The photos with the flash really detract from the mood, but on the other hand are much better for the synther. I have yet to do any research about whether my camera has any built in support for exposure bracketing, but that might be one way to go next time. Perhaps I can figure that out in time for Christmas holidays.

After you click on the synth, use the [P] key to turn on the point cloud 3D model behind the photos. You can toggle between Photos Only, Photos + Points, Points only, and back to Photos Only again. Also check out Overhead View by using the [T] key. From overhead, you can click on any part of the point cloud to swoop down to a photo of that part of the scene. If you get lost or decide that you would rather look at the photos like a gallery, you can try out 2D view by using the [~] key and zoom in and out of all of the photos by pointing your mouse cursor at what you want to move toward and using your scrollwheel.
