The.Rev

I'm Darren from Ireland.

Love photosynth. Love trying to do something different with it. Started off with ruin's as my local area seems to have an endless supply of castles and statues!

Any questions leave me a comment and I will get back to you!

My daughter lives about five minutes from here, and I live 5000 miles from here. We truly live in a small world! Love love!

pointcloud is amazing! Gives me a idea for a new synth! Thank you!

Cheers Nathanael!

The stonework in this is nothing less than ideal for Photosynth. Wonderful work, NG.

Thanks David, combination of strong winter sun, nice sky, still lake and my 40D. Love it when a plan comes together! :-D

Wow! Great Synth!! Love the Point Cloud. Seems like a great concept for some mountaineering beta.

Mister_Blondie (Over 1 year ago)
Okay... now I'm wondering what I have to do to get work flying round in a plane shooting scenery...

I see the new viewer fixes the copyright display. Does it still only use the 'Author' tags, rather than what's in the 'Copyright' field? Also, how is that uber-synth coming?

Joshua (Over 1 year ago)
This looks great! Nice work

Really cool point cloud. Loving it!

Very cool! Love the IC finals stage this year!

vincenbo (Over 1 year ago)
Awesome work Damien ! It really captures the feeling of what it was to be there. Well, it was still better to be there, but hey, you needed to be a world finalist in the Imagine Cup 2009 for that ! :)

Yep! I think I took closer to 1000 pictures, but a bunch of them pointed straight down at water, a couple were blurry, etc. By the time those were all removed, the total had come down to 820.

kgb-xo (Over 1 year ago)
Wow! Does the 820 photos mean that's how many are in this Synth?

douglas (Over 1 year ago)
This is a really beautiful synth - nice work. Mark.

Thanks! >gulp!!< That's a serious honor. I appreciate it a lot.

Thanks Ken, the reason is I planned to photosynth a large area together. So I'm interested in how far I can push the technology before I encounter issues.

K (Over 1 year ago)
I was able to synth more than 1700 photos on a borrowed 8 core machine with 8gb of ram. I wouldn't recommend it though, we don't test Photosynth to that scale normally and it usually doesn't improve the experience much to go above 500. a wider lens always helps since you can get more overlap per photo.

EdLee (Over 1 year ago)
Hi Darren, yes. The total size of the photos is under 285M (very small). Most of the photos are low resolution, at 640x480. About 22 photos are higher resolutions at around 3000x2000 or less (about 60M). My highest synthed photo number was 1,499. I have others over 1,400: http://photosynth.net/view.aspx?cid=c8063fc8-145b-4b42-936f-58ca7724b26d Maybe you want to ask Ken at Photosynth who had 1,713 photos here: http://photosynth.net/view.aspx?cid=a2c8398d-1d5d-4c6b-b36a-51d9e2e222b6 Good luck!

The.Rev (Over 1 year ago)
Can you tell me the size of the pictures you uploaded here? I've had issues with having 1000 pictures. I think the size(over 2gb) could have been the issue. Maybe you can help me!

K (Over 1 year ago)
Nicely done. Can you add a geotag so we can find this on the map?

Fantastic... that's commitment to get a great synth.

This land is really dry and according to local people, it looks now currently "green".... if you go on the highlights to "Flores Sea", you will see the typical kind of vegetation: mangroves on the sea sides, then it becomes really dry with trees from which the local spirit "Arak" is made from. During the rain season, it should be a bit better. But I do agree with you. Not typicaly the kind of environment you were looking for.
