The rotation is so perfect that it feels as if it was on a turntable.

Thanks, blaise. We've (my pilot and I) been working together for 5 years now...so have well over 1,000 hours learning how to do things. However...there's no way I'm going to give him a swollen head by telling him what a great job he did! I'd never hear the end of it...he'd be demanding credit on all of my images!

blaise (Over 1 year ago)
Wow, very nice work! Excellent control over the flightpath, to get such uniform rotations around the building.

Holy smokes...there's an image in there with some wing strut in it! I'm going to go slit my wrists... Thanks for the comments.

@RBanks, I don't know if this is too late, but Stringcraft chose to publish their photos under the Creative Commons Attribution license, meaning that as long as you credit Stringcraft, you are absolutely free to do whatever you wish with the photos in their synth.

RBanks (Over 1 year ago)
Hi Stingcraft. I'm keen to use a screenshot of your photosynth in a book that I'm writing about using technology to reminisce about the past. I need your permission to do this, though. Would it be possible for you to e-mail me at rbanks [at] microsoft [dot] com to discuss? This is relatively urgent, unfortunately. Thx! Richard

Nathanael (Over 1 year ago)
Stringcraft, this synth has been one of my favourites, but in the past several months when coming back to look at it, I've found that many of the DZIs (seemingly every other one) have most of their tile layers missing, resulting in half the photos or so remaining permanently blurred. What are the odds of you resynthing these photos (perhaps having edited the metadata so that they upload a second time)? Hoping to see this beautiful synth up and healthy again soon! Best regards, Nate

Donrod (Over 1 year ago)
how can I delete a photosynth which I made?

Nmbr1stlrsfn (Over 1 year ago)
let me know when you get this to work so that i don't have to install and reinstall the application. this is very frustrating.

Thanks Nathanael! looking for some free time as well!

Nathanael (Over 1 year ago)
Lost, I'm surprised that I never commented on this inspiring synth. You certainly challenged me to try larger structures and I'm sure you did the same for others. I wonder if the inner and outer walls could be tightened up by adding a short orbit of the left and right sides of each doorway at minimum and possibly the same treatment of the top of the doorway as well. I know that means more photos which is a problem, but I'd love to see it done. Looking forward to your coming synths when you next have some free time.

lostinthetriangle (Over 1 year ago)
Thanks blaise, I struggled to upload the pictures (out of memory errors) since then the software has been updated so I might retry a large upload again. I also wish I had more time this summer for shooting pictures but have been way to busy. Be glad when things slow down here in the triangle!

Getting the air and ground to connect is hard (as yet) without intermediate angles. There's also a big resolution difference, and I think many of the fine features change somewhat (looks like these were taken at different times?). The best air-ground merges I've seen on the site are from photographers using aerostats, which take shots on the way up to get strong connections along the way (search for 'aerostat', curtw has done some fun stuff).

I like this synth. however, i think you should now start to concentrate on gathering more detail on a subject. if you're taking a picture of a person - try and get right in and photograph their face, from all angles. Go even closer and get their eyes. The Program will pick up on all that, and when you push CTRL you will get an amazing 3D model of the subject.

Great 3D reconstruction, but not ideal with respect to navigation or projection of the imagery onto planes. We need to figure out how support this kind of scenario better-- partly through better graphics, partly through better authoring tools!
