is there a way for me to save this for use as my desktop background image? i noticed no long press or right click works, but after examining the licence it say we are free to use it with due credit, as i'm not interested in sharing this, i just think its a gorgeous image and would look fantastic in my new 4k monitor as the background. but again an amazing picture, have you considered this technique for astrophotography? i could imagine some fantastic scenes from the northern mountains of Washington where light pollution is at a minimum.

mattu (Over 1 year ago)
This is the first really large pano I ever created. I think when we first stitched it, it was a world record for largest stitch. A video describing how it was done is available here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B5UUrxL_2t0 I just re-did it for Photosynth yesterday in under an hour of processing.

douglas (Over 1 year ago)
Nice - any information on how you managed to create such a large pano?

Appreciated your compliments on my airphotosLIVE.com photosynths. Are you still using a kite or a helium assisted kite? Hydrogen in this simple environment would be better for lift and cost. How do you turn these great images into dollars? Stay in touch.

thanks for your comments Douglas. i'm still not sure of how best to shoot these, because as you can see if you look closely, there are a lot of rough blends with many of the images. i shot this with a Sigma 10-20mm lens, at 20mm with a pretty high ISO.

douglas (Over 1 year ago)
Ah :) I see you already did that: http://photosynth.net/view.aspx?cid=29477c80-b83d-4e63-88f1-3b32cc151e38 Looks good.

douglas (Over 1 year ago)
Nice synth, it would be interesting to see how this would look as a panorama, if you put the pictures through Microsoft ICE (http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/um/redmond/groups/ivm/ICE/) and uploaded it to photosynth. It looks like you kept the camera quite stationary while taking all the pictures, so it might stitch with relatively few artifacts. Mark.

Interesting looking building, good subject choice (more info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clegg_Hall) One tip, in ICE when you create the panorama, there is an option to align the horizon line, looks like this panorama could benefit from tweaking that option so the rotation would look a bit better.
