Very cool syth. It's one of the best I've seen. How did you manage to have no one in the room but the guards?

CMOS, that's the Declaration of Independance.. I just didn't get enough shots to connect it with the rest of the synth, unfortunately.

Hi rwmcnab.. Super wide angles are the culprit! I guess there are advantages and disadvantages to shooting ultra-wide. I took the initial panorama at 17mm on a full-frame camera, so if you zoomed out to look at the point cloud, the scene would look really distorted. The advantage is that the scene is very immersive when you're zoomed in. It was fun to capture this synth, but very difficult due to the low ambient light. I had to use a tripod and take very long exposures for each shot.

It was a great little Kodak with very great optics that my 5 year old dropped and broke a couple of weeks ago. I'm going to miss it. Can't remember what the minimum focal length was... maybe 28mm. I shot for probably 2 hours. Don't remember how long the synth took to process if that's what you're asking Tim.

Wow, very nice synth. how long did this take? i do synths with 110 pics in them and i cant cover as much as this camera did? does this camera have a wide lens? About how long did this take to make?

Well... Sintra is a very nice place, full of treasures to explore... You should go. If one day you wanna go and if you need a tourist guide, you can always contact me. About this palace, it camed from a medieval palace, it was built on the top of a muslim palace and from the beggining of the portuguese monarchy, our kings had a palace in Sintra. This room is called, Sala dos Brasões (Nobel Arms Room) because of the 72 noble arms that are represented. The arms of the king are represented on the center. Nice! This is a great demonstration of accurate registration and agile display of multiple video sequences. If you try it again (and you promised you would!) use a sequence moving around a textured object or room to get a better 3d reconstruction. Hint, you can probably subsample the video frame sequence by a factor of 3 or more.
