Description

So, during a 12-hour lay-over at Seattle-Tacoma (SEA) airport, we got bored. We walked all over the place, collected "Smart Carts" and wheeled them around the airport until someone told us we couldn't take them any further. In one of the remote terminals (we were exploring), we passed a row of vending machines. This one had a water bottle and Gatorade halfway out. I thought, "hey, I'm thirsty, and wouldn't it be neat to get 3 bottles for the price of 1?!".

Well it didn't work out that way. We strategically planned the mission, failing at every step of the way. With each failure, we were convinced that we were closer to victory. After spending $10.50 trying to get a drink, I even resorted to kicking, shaking, and trying to "muscle" the machine. I even had 2 maintenance guys working with me to tip the entire row of machines. I failed. Here's the proof.

Well... time's short in an airport but I would love to see a synth of illuminated liquids like this with full coverage. The point cloud should be a thing of beauty as long as you could get enough close ups.

Funny thing, Nathanael... when I took these photos in the airport - I hadn't discovered Photosynth yet! I wasn't actually trying to create a synth, I was just trying to take enough pictures that when I came back to my pictures (years later) that I could decipher what had happened. I discovered Photosynth months after these pictures were taken, so I just threw them into Photosynth to see what would happen. Yes, if I had it to do over again, it would probably be at least 500 photos of a soda machine =)
