Description
In July 2010, archaeologists began excavations on a series of tolas (mounds), in the Palmitopamba area of Northern Ecuador. The tolas frequently mark burials but not always. The range in size from a few meters in diameter to massive earthworks that can dominate the mountain tops. They were built bu the Yumbo culture.
I was working on a nearby project but helped map several of their sites. At this location, I did both Total Data Station (TDS) and Kite Aerial Photography (KAP) mapping.
