Description

Created with 3 cameras mounted to a hang glider flying over Yosemite Valley in August 2008. The Canon Hack Development Kit was used to trip the shutter every 2 seconds. Additional shots taken from the launch and landing zone.

This is part of the Yosemite Extreme Panoramic Imaging Project http://www.xrez.com/case-studies/national-parks/yosemite-extreme-panoramic-imaging-project/ The 48 gigapixel project was created to study the geology and rockfall in Yosemite Valley.

For a better view of the point cloud, use the direct 3d viewer and grab the halo when it comes up then hold down the control key to rotate. The "a" and "d" keys will allow you to dolly left and right.

One of the best ways to view this is to proceed by shooting order ("." key for forwards, "," key for backwards). YES -- we must make this more discoverable, and YES -- we must allow the owner to specify the starting image!

This is a great way to use Photosynth, thanks for the idea...but too bad I don't have access to something like this. Creativity at its best.

This is so amazing. Loved to follow the flight path by using the "." key. That gave an amazing impression! Thanks for that!

This is a classic synth, please consider adding highlights for some of the best photos and views, it'll make it easier and more fun to navigate.
