Jefferson Memorial, Washington, D.C.
Thomas Jefferson is revered for his many achievements, among them writing the first draft of the Declaration of Independence and serving as the country's third President. His memorial was the last of the Presidential monuments built on the National Mall. Dedicated in 1943, nine years after Congress approved construction, the memorial is set on the edge of the Tidal Basin and surrounded by cherry trees.
