A thermal airburst impact structure in central Mexico. see: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mCCKW_STVqE&feature=player_embedded Note the ejecta curtain. The mountain is the central uplift of a thermal airburst impact. The deep V shaped excacations that get wider at the top, and towards centerof the flow are the signature of the upwards flow at the center of the post impact plasma vortice.
