Description
The Ether Dome Amphitheater is located in the fourth floor of the Bulfinch Buiding, the original Massachusetts General Hospital built in 1821. An early demonstration of the use of ether as a surgical anesthetic on October 16, 1846, by local dentist Thomas Green Morton.
