Description
This is a test to see whether image size, aperture and dpi affect point cloud density.
The test:
A tripod mounted camera (6.1mp Konica Minolta Dynax 5D DSLR) was set up and moved around an object taking images in each of the 4 settings below. To ensure camera positions remained the same, each setting was shot before the camera was moved into the next position:
Setting 1: Res: 3008 x 2000 Ap: F22 ISO400 shutter 0.8-1.6sec
Setting 2: Res: 3008 x 2000 Ap: F3.5 ISO400 shutter 1/30-60sec
Setting 3: Res: 1504 x 1000 Ap: F22 ISO400 shutter 0.8-1.6sec
Setting 4: Res: 1504 x 1000 Ap: F3.5 ISO400 shutter 1/30-60sec
35 Images were collected for each setting, these were grouped together and synthed.
This particular model relates to setting 3, but the imagery has been reduced from 250dpi to 100dpi.
Result:
Both the F22 synths appear to have a few more points, but nothing significant. Resolution hasn’t had any impact at all
