Description

After a long and slow drive up the unpaved Fourth of July Road (CO Route 111), a day-long hike up to Lake Dorothy began. After admiring the beautiful scenery along the way, we arrived at Lake Dorothy, one of the deepest, coldest lakes in the region, nestled high in the Rocky Mountains of the Indian Peaks Wilderness. A short trail brought us to a rocky peak near Mt. Neva overlooking Lake Dorothy to the east, Lake Granby to the north-west, Winter Park Ski Resort to the south-west, and the Colorado Rocky Mountaions all around.
