Description
The Kohala Coast of the Big Island of Hawai`i is peppered with protected historical sites. And yet as you walk through the aera, you see countless survey markers from developers parceling out the land. Some even fall inside the sites themselves! It's a sobering reminder of how quickly hundreds or thousands of years of history can be obliterated by a single bulldozer.
Luckily steps are being taken to protect the sites on the Kohala Coast, so hopefully views like these will not also be a matter of historical record.
