Description

Artist, Larry Kirkland

On the corner of 14th and Colfax you will find two Carrara marble heads that come together in the middle to expose a gold plumb bob. These Janus heads look to the future and to the past and hope to be centered on truth and wisdom. They physically sit on an array of visual symbols, sandblasted into the granite plaza, that describe attributes of the location both locally and how the location relates to the rest of the world.

Larry Kirkland's untitled sculpture, has its own nickname: "Big Giant Head." The marble sculpture has generated national attention, even showing up on CNN -- not because it's good (which it is), but because its two noses created a hazard for the blind.
