Description

On the main floor of the Jefferson Building of the Library of Congress, you'll find the Gutenberg Bible acquired by the Library in 1929 from the collection of Otto Vollbehr. It was machine-printed in the fifteenth century in Mainz, Germany by Johannes Gutenberg, the inventor of the movable type printing. This is one of only four perfect vellum copies known to exist in the world.
