Racetrack Playa (Death Valley NP)

The Racetrack playa is a remote area in the park where the rocks move. It's incredible. No one has ever seen it, but the theory is that when it gets wet, the playa is so slippery that high winds are able to push around the rocks, some weighing over 100 pounds.
The drive to it is very strenuous - 30 miles on a very poor dirt road. Our Subaru Forrester handled it well, but many people rent Jeeps just to visit this place. Plan for it to take nearly all day, and don't even try it with a sedan.
